Just spent the day at Studland and it was very nice today. Quieter than I expected, hardly any power boats anchored off the beach, so much nicer for swimming.

Took my Fat Bike and tried it out. Worked great. Along the wetter sand and just about ok on the soft sand. If you saw a fat bike riding along the shore that was me.

Highly recommended, yes - but unfortunately sold out for the Bank Holiday as a result!  >:(

They apparently use a ticket-system at BHs. From their website:

"SOLD OUT --- All available tickets for the 2013 August Bank Holiday Sold --- SOLD OUT"

With such a good forecast yesterday, and possibly the last day of hot weather, could not resist popping over to Studland for the afternoon.

In my opening post I mentioned that it was quieter than expected, for such good weather and holidays in full swing.

Yesterday was actually a lot busier. Perhasp kids back at school releases a lot of couples to get to the beach. These days grand-parents have to do a lot of looking after grand-kids in the holidays, so perhaps that means they can now get to the beach.

Have to say, it's wonderful to see so many couples enjoying naturism together. My local beach is the usual male dominated beach, which creates a downward spiral I think.

Somehow Studland is just the opposite, loads of young, middle and older couples, a very healthy scene indeed. It's heart warming to see so many women who are happy to throw off societies rules and pressures, make their own minds up, and enjoy the freedom that naturism brings. Just wish my own wife could feel the same.

Took my fat bike again, works great and the perfect naturists transport.

Here's the best value, UK On-One supplied Fatty. Terric bike,

I  know people complain about Studland and the meerkats but they've never been a problem for me.  The last few times I've been its been mostly couples. Nice friendly atmosphere and everyone relaxing and enjoying themselves. Its nice to hear your very positive comments about my favourite beach.

I had a look at the bike... its very expensive  😮  can you ride it on soft sand?

The On-One Fatty is £999 direct from them. That is in fact half the cost of my US made Moonlander but it is just as good. My son has the Fatty and we tested them back to back and his bike actually is as good and better in some ways than mine.

Riding round from the ferry at the water's edge is no problem at all. Between there and the sand dunes the sand is very soft and I found I could just ride it if I was already moving on the hard sand at the water's edge, but could not quite get started from a standstill on the very soft sand.

If you were riding from the side of the road where people park, all of the path to the dune would be fine. The dune might stop you going up it but down the other side would be good.

Here's some video of a fat bike on the beach

SURLY MOONLANDER - One Year on....

It's interesting that where ever I ride my Moonlander people stop me all the time to ask about it. Not so much naturists, but many did smile and comment on the "tyres".

Love Studland and once we got used to the men walking around in the dunes we were fine. If you tell them to go away they generally do lol

I've not been to Studland yet but hope to this summer.  I've heard about the dunes but apparently it's easy enough to avoid them.  Where would people recommend going on the beach at Studland?
