I did a studio session with a model and her stylist last night. The studio I rent for shoots is an internal room so was very warm, added to that the studio lighting it gets quite uncomfortable sometimes.  So I texted the stylist when I got there and told her to knock the front door when they arrived and give me a minute to get dressed because I was stripped off while I got things ready to keep cooler.

During the shoot they were both saying how hot it was in there.

I emailed both this morning to say thanks and send a couple of samples over. I added that if it was this hot next week when I am planning another shoot with them, that I am staying nude for the shoot - I was interested to know how they might react and if they were uncomfortable with the idea then of course I would respect their feelings.

The first reply came back from the model who said she doesn't mind and that clothes are not practical in this weather anyway.  Then a reply from the stylist - saying less clothes in this weather is fine by her.

So if we end up in the studio next week rather than on location, it is very likely to be designated a clothes optional shoot which will be so much more comfortable and perhaps I'll end up converting a couple of lasses to the idea of naturism.

Many things are just simpler and better without clothes - problem usually is people understanding, thinking there is another motive or just how do you say - I prefer to be naked - do u mind. So good for u and them.

Many years back our local Tesco's did a naked shopping night - didn't last and I have to admit the idea of turning up, stripping off, doing the shopping and getting dressed again - seems rather strange.

Perhaps as you imply could advertise naked photosessions every other friday and see how manu takers you get.

Maybee the stylist could advertist naked stylist night ?

Well I am a professional photographer and most people think we are just a little bit weird already - so people might raise an eyebrow when they find out I am a naturist but nobody is really shocked.

The thought of advertising myself as a naked photographer crossed my mind but it would just attract the wrong clients - I don't want to become an entertainer and that's what would happen.  Word of mouth between models is fine since most of them don't see nudity as anything particularly shocking - although a lot do see it in a 'sex' context because of the way the modelling industry is.  these two women know I am a naturist because I don't hide the fact and I bring the subject up where I can.

I'm not going to push it anyway - if these two are happy for me to work nude then that's brilliant.  I don't care if they are dressed or not - that's not important.

Just wondering what you meant when you said the above?

Feel free to get in touch

What I meant was that advertising myself as that would attract the hen party types just coming for a shoot to have a bit of a laugh because they like the idea of a nude bloke about but don't want to admit to getting a make stripper in.  There would no doubt be other types who come for reasons other than photography.

The other side of it is I do shoots for families and schools. Now can you imagine the effect on my business if I advertised myself as a naked photographer?  Simply advertising the fact suggests I am doing it to attract business and that in itself suggests it's a sexual thing.  I would lose the good business I have already and attract business that I don't want. Using nudity to attract business is not the way to go unless I was looking for clients who are naturists - and as we know there are not enough genuine naturists to support a business 🙂

By getting to know people I work with regularly such as local models and stylists, they understand me, they are already comfortable working with me. So it's simply a case of dropping naturism casually into a conversation so they know about it. At that point it probably doesn't occur to them that I would like to work nude so in this case I just threw that suggestion in as a light hearted comment but got a positive response.

MMmmmmm, I have mixed feelings on situations where people performing professional activities strip off. While I agree that clothes should not be an issue I think that I'd feel uncomfortable if a photographer or anyone else providing a service stripped off, unless it was part of the service. I had a massage a couple of years ago and while the room was very warm and I was naked, I felt very uncomfortable when the guy performing the massage stripped down to just some shorts... made it feel less professional to me for some reason.

Professionalism and nudity are probably not the best of companions. Suppose you went to the doctor and, while you were in a state of undress, he or she were to say "Hang on a sec, I'm just going to get my kit off too". Wouldn't that just slightly damage your confidence in him/her?

I think you need to read my posts properly. I clearly said I only bring the subject of naturism up when I have worked with someone a few times to the extent I consider them friends.

Suggesting working nude to a new client - that would be ridiculous and rather stupid.
