sunshinekid. yes the beach at Tingaki is long and sandy and I'm sure it will be nice when you get here I'm not sure if they have had bad winter storms here as the beach at Kardeneana is rocky and rough looking more like builders rubble than a beach!

We're heading for Tigaki next month, so any tips or info would be great. It was picked solely on the good reports about the beach, so we hope it lives up to it!!

Nix don't worry its the better beach we have found on the island and easy to get to
also close to Kos town for shopping and eating so good base.
Taxi too dear so hire a car or scooter or buses .
The only thing for us first time to Kos is its a bit rough around the edges and needs investment for what we have got used to in Spanish holidays we have been on.
You will have a great time especially later in the year .

For anyone booking a holiday to Kos this is for reference and hopefully help them get the best from their holiday.
The beach at Kardemeana shown in the holiday  brochures is a long white sandy beach which must have been lovely BUT the sand has gone now its just bed rock and broken concrete and rubbish all the way along from the town to the Mark warner hotel at the  other end.  The town Kardemeana its self about a third of the shops and bars are shut and boarded up and is a real disappointment.
The reason for High lighting all this is to inform rather than put you off going to Kos i would say if you haven't booked yet book the other side of the island Tigaki beach area was much better and a good position to Kos town, If you have already booked don't worry car hire was cheap and the island small and easy place to drive in and you can be any where on the island with in 25 mins please don't let this put you off going its here to inform and get the best out of your holiday g<l
If i can help with any thing just ask.
Regards
Chris

From what we saw there will be less boom boom as a lot of the bars have shut up  :-[

The euro still doing Greece the world of good. Kardamena was a prime 18-30 resort, but perhaps it got too expensive.

Kardemana has developed a bit of a lawless reputation over the last few years, mainly down to the Greek government withdrawing the extra police they used to sent from Athens each summer to keep the peace there. This has led to some tour companies pulling out of the resort amid closing bard and rumours of Albanian gangster taking the place over.
The rest of the island is ok, at least I've never had any problems, or heard of any. The rise of the all-inclusive has damaged the restaurant and bar trade, especially since the East Europeans have started going to the island. I've been going to Tigaki for the last few years and can recommend it. I'm booked for August 9th for two weeks this year.
