Visited Kenfig today - massive amount of storm damage to dunes - in places sea has eroded 30m or more back from last year. The huge stone banks at the foot of the dunes has also been reshaped.

Huge amounts of sand has been removed off beach exposing large expanses of stones and the ancient forest peat bands.

Thankfully the further west along the beach you go, the better the beach gets, with the sand intact. This is the area favoured by naturists, so will be great again this summer.

Lets hope we get some lovely sunshine like it is today. 8)

Was at Kenfig yesterday - lots of people commenting about the winter damage and the lack of sandy spots to lie. What has happened is  that the huge stone bank got washed into the front part of the dunes during the storms. Actually lying out on the beach is fine - if a little exposed to walkers and horse riders.

Reading the posts above I hope the dearth of sand doesn't push large numbers of textiles to use the naturist parts of the beach.

But is that not the best thing that could happen? Textiles mixing with naturists.

In an ideal world yes but I can see potential for friction if the naturists are mainly single males and the textiles include a sizeable number of families.

I went down there yesterday afternoon and used the access from the B4283 near the railway bridge, Grid ref SS 806 827
I walked clothed from there past Kenfig castle and down to the beach where I saw a total of 2 people, too far away to see what they were or werenโ€™t wearing. The tide was in so I had a nice little skinny dip and walk along the beach and then as I had seen no one on the path on my way in I decided not to bother putting clothes back on to walk back to the car.  only finally getting dressed near the M4 as there were people on motorbikes on the nearby disused railway. All in all a lovely way to spend an afternoon

Glad to read of your great day on the beach, Sunday was very hot here across the Bristol Channel, better than the forecast - feel sorry for those getting horrendous rain and thunderstorms.

Fantastic day at Kenfig today - hot and sunny all day. Stayed until after 18h00. Sea was beautiful and refreshing. Very quiet only 3 of us couples and a few regular single males.

There too!  Wasn't sure of it at first, I set up at the rocky bit at the end before noticing a bunch of people heading back towards the middle.  Didn't know that was the bit with a "reputation".  ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

They're at their desk - over there!
