Down near Hastings is a real gem of a beach and the reason we joined this Forum....

We've been there several times over the past few years and love the place. You park your car at the top of the hill, then walk down for almost an hour till you reach the beach. The walk is through woods, over streams and is gorgeous. The final part is down some steep steps cut into the hillside.
Don't go unless you have food and drink as you won't want to nip back to the car or shops to get anything you've forgotten, so plan it well.

My worry was as we had such an amazing Winter this year, the steps and access to the beach might be gone altogether.
To our surprise, if anything, the steps have been cut a little better and it was actually slightly easier than last year. Having said that, it's still very difficult so be aware of that.
It is a lovely place though and we'd recommend it to most people. The fact that it's difficult to get to means only the real naturists get down there and very few if any gawkers.
Lovely place

Yes it is a lovely spot. We went a few years ago now and will probably pay it a visit when we are in the area although I feel that with the trek down and back up again I could have problems with my knees.

We went last year
it is a walk but great !
somehow we both broke toes on slippery rocks !
worth a visit - we had been to Brighton the day before and there is some contrast !!

Cheers

Fairlight was the first place I ever went naked so many years ago. I haven't been for quite a while but must try to get down there some day before I get too old and decrepit.

Like Fred, Fairlight is the first place that I went naked and have never regretted it.  Fantastic beach if one can cope with the trek to get there.

Just out of interest, has anybody seen the guy who goes to the beach carrying a bike, swims for an hour or 2 then goes.
Most times we've been to Fairlight, there is a guy with a Mountain bike. Baring in mind it's an extremely difficult climb down to the beach and an even harder climb up, this guy does it carrying a mountain bike on his shoulder. He sits around in the sun for a while, then gets into the sea and swims. And I mean really swims, straight out to the horizon, often completely beyond view over the horizon, then swims back, sits on the beach for a while before picking up his bike and going. Take well over an hour in the sea. He does this every time we see him there.
My guess is, when he gets back up top, he smokes a few fags, goes for a MacDonalds before a few pints down the pub 🙂 LOL
Anyone seen him or know him?

Did you know ... Fairlight was the country's first officially sanctioned naturist beach. Back in the 19whatevers when it  became possible for local councils to "legalise" nude beaches, Brighton was set to be the first, and did indeed get all the publicity, not least because theirs was visible from the promenade. But someone had lobbied for Fairlight (relatively remote and difficult to access) and it beat Brighton by several weeks.

Never knew that. I lived most of my life in Bristol, only coming to this side of the world when I met Wendy 6 years ago. So, I'd never heard of Fairlight until relatively recently.
Quite surprised actually at how many people replied who seem to have been to Fairlight years ago.
I remember Brighton becoming 'legal' as it was big news back then. Wendy and I visited the now famous Brighton nudist beach a couple of years back, stayed less than 10 minutes as it wasn't our sort of place.
Would be interested to know if anyone actually likes the Brighton nudist beach. Guess this isn't the right place to ask

Brighton has become a bit shit. Sometimes I use it as it's where I am and it's that or nothing, such as this Thursday. It was VERY busy at 4pm on a Thursday. As usual 85% Men (half of whom are definately gay). I have no issue with the gay men as they tend to do their own thing and not cause grief.

It's the perverts who seem to get bolder and more brazen year on year that ruin the beach. Voyeurs and passers by I can handle. If I didn't want to be seen naked I'd not be there. It's the perverts. This Thr some guy set up 6 feet away from a female on the beach, facing her and it wasn't long before he started to 'pleasure himself'. He had no issue with this blatent idiotic behaviour. Thankfully a chap went over and gave him grief.

Brighton has a dozen or so men (maybe more) who 'graze' the beach for women and then setup to view between their legs until they either move, cover up or get pissed off and leave.

The beach needs to be marshalled or for the regulars to stop being wimps and approach these perverts and tell them to 'eff off'. (I admit I'm to timid to do it and hate that fact).

Hence it's not for many people. I suggest to females or couples who go actually approach these idiots and tell them where to go or take some kind of barrier to hinder their view until they get the hint.

One time I saw a couple do that with 2 back packs and the guy moved 3 times to keep his view of the women. So they upped and left.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

I like to look at a naked woman as much as the next guy but what they do annoys me. (Lots of swearing has been held in during the writing of this post). Perhaps I should re-post on the Brighton thread?

Hi ya 'Sign in......'
Very interesting post you made because you sound the same as me. LOL, you'd like to say or do something but daren't 🙂
Wendy and I have only ever been to 2 beaches so we're not very qualified to say much about this but of the 2 beaches we visit, one is very much the same as you described about Brighton. Leysdown beach was the first nudist beach we ever went to and certainly all that you described about Brighton beach happens at Leysdown and a whole lot more.
The funniest was one day we were laying down, semi asleep. Woke up, sat up to have some food or a smoke or something. Wendy noticed a guy laying facing her, right opposite. Behind him, a few feet further back, another guy and yet another one a few feet further back again, in staggered line all trying to get a view.
I say it was funny because thats Wendy's attitude toward them. She sees them as rather sad boys with no lives, playing with their toys. (they were blokes by the way, not boys)
Wendy is pretty unique though in that she brushes all that stuff off like it's no big deal. I know there are a lot of women who it would put off ever going there again and it's those people who I feel for.
Also, the whole general public view of nudism being weird, perverted etc is backed up when blokes behave like that.
So, what I'm saying is, it's not a problem unique to Brighton, I certainly know of one other beach like it and I'm pretty sure there are others.

Perhaps guys like you should put up a stand then Steve. Make them feel really uncomfortable and make them think twice. I would if it was my wife I think in a 'defending her honour' type of way.

Just a suggestion..........

I think guys pitching up close to a female happens quite a lot ,we really noticed this at Brighton one couple moved next to us for moral support as guys were surrounding the couple ... really not nice
I think if I had witnessed the in line viewing I would have moved if they the moved I would ask why they are following us
It just puts people off I think

Oh absolutely, we moved away. No fuss, no bother. No need for anything else really.
Just human nature I guess. You will get naturists at naturist beaches but it has to be accepted there will be people there who are there for other reasons. Not a lot you can do about it but thats life.

Speaking to someone on ahoo about this today he told me that they have an old windbreak that only has 2 poles left. he will keep it to one side and if voyeurs come along he places it annoyingly in their line of sight. He said a couple of people have moved to curcum navigate it but most wait ten minutes then up and leave. The ones that move get the idea the second time when it's repositioned in their way again.

Genius!
