...the genuine generosity and hospitality we've had over the years from most people we have interacted with, not to mention helpfulness, is far beyond any 'service culture' or lip service.

We found this to be the case these last two weeks with regard to the lovely lady who hosted our stay in Jelsa. Nothing was too much trouble for her, although her enthusiasm for chatting somewhat greater than her ability in the English language. On our last day she insisted on cooking us a huge plate of prawns to see us on our way, and was so delighted that we were her first guests to use the new Sea Plane service that whisked us back from Jelsa to Split in a memorable thirteen minutes.  But that's another story    8)

"Sea plane service"

How exciting. Perfect for flying down from home to the beach hut!

We didn't know about the seaplane until its noisy arrival in Jelsa one morning - everyone had their cameras out amid much excitement. I'd assumed we had too much luggage and resigned ourselves to either a 6am catamaran departure from Jelsa, or 7;45 ferry from Stari Grad and a half day to kill in Split.
They were selling tickets at an amazing introductory rate of 100 Kuna, but they were all snapped up before we got ours, so we ended up paying three times that amount. Well worth it for the experience though, the co-pilot was a most attractive blonde girl who must have had the coolest job ever, standing on the plane floats as it taxied into the harbour. Both pilots flew barefoot !

From Jelsa apartment to Split airport in about half an hour - takes some beating !  Felt extremely smug disembarking too  😀

I'll post a report later and a link to some pics , although my camera was playing up so not as good a set as last years Vis efforts.

We are off to lake Garda in 2 weeks but i'm not expecting any naturist places in that part of the world.

We have linked a Lake Garda holiday with Venice using the rail route that runs from Milan past the south end of the lake. It would be quite easy to link this to Istria and the naturist beaches using the Venice to Porec ferry, giving a varied three centre holiday.

Venice, Gards and Istria in one vacation sounds fantastic and a complete variety of sights, sounds and experiences - i was in venice last September at the temp never dropped below 35c - far too hot for clothes but sadly nowhere to undress! 🙂

Didn't I read in a Rayner Otter article in H@E a few months back on combining city breaks and naturism that there is now a beach on the Venice Lido, or was he drunk or am I punch drunk with exam revision....
