Have enjoyed walking naked through Southey Wood a few times. This is a few miles north of Peterborough. Have to watch out for dog walkers and families, but pick the right time and it is very quiet.
Picking paths around (just inside) the edge of the wood gives a walk of a good 90 minutes or so, but I am a slow walker. Some bits rather overgrown with brambles and nettles though.
Have just found out about Bedford Purlieus wood nearby just a couple of miles further along the A47. Shall have to check that one out soon.

always wonderd if there was anywhere in Peterborugh for a naked walk

I would love to walk naked in woods, Nick, but am inhibited by not knowing where I stand.
Is the right to be naked in public enough? If that's so why is it necessary to avoid families and dog-walkers? 'Cos they're ignorant and might kick up a fuss?
Everything is new to me, which is why I might be asking the bleedin' obvious...
Grower - I do not know the legalities of being naked in public. When I do venture out I make sure that I am aware of anyone else who might be about and cover up (if possible) before they might see me. Just using common sense really. If you have more questions on this then do please start a new thread in the relevant section - this thread is about walks near Peterborough. Thanks
Mark (and Tracy) I will let you know once I have explored Bedford Purlieus.

Personally I would avoid Southey Wood as it has a rather seedy reputation and I believe is regularly policed.
Yes, beekeeper, I am aware of the reputation at Southey and have seen evidence of it. Have not seen anyone policing it though when I have been there.
Yesterday I went and tried out Bedford Purlieus. I enjoyed a good hours walk around without seeing another soul, though it was 6pm. Some dog walkers were just returning to their cars as I arrived.
Bedford Purlieus is much bigger than Southey but slightly less accessible because there is not much parking facilities. Believe it is mainly used by dog walkers and possibly bird watchers. Lots of very long straight paths which (hopefully) means less chance of suddenly coming face to face with others using the woods. Lots of different paths to choose as well with varying amounts of canopy cover, from totally open to totally enclosed.
It is accessed by driving west along the A47 from the A1 junction for just over two miles. Go past the turnings on the right for Thornhaugh and Wittering. Just after a blue sign on the left saying parking in half a mile, turn left to travel down the road along the west edge of the wood, signposted as access to the farm. The main entrance is about half way along on a bend just after the tarmac ends. Parking there for two cars, though you will already have driven past three or four smaller entrances each with space for one or two cars.
Sounds fun love th idea of naked rambles.
