Not sure if this quite the right part of the forum but hope it is...

For the last two years we've been lucky anough to go to NZ in Jan and Feb and leave the worse part of the UK winter behind. Probably not an option this coming winter  🙁 so we are wondering about S Spain.

Has anyone experience of S Spain in Jan and Feb, is it worth the trip or is the weather not that great? it would be nice to mix in some naturism with the break but mostly looking for an early start to getting some sun and warmth. We're thinking a mix of campervan and rented place for around 5 weeks (got to be back here for 26 Feb).

Any experiences of that time year in S Spain gratefully received.

Thanks

There are many British naturists who go to El Portus in s-e Spain for the winter months because it is much warmer and sunnier than the UK. Many spend from October to March at EP only returning to the UK briefly for Christmas. The nights are quite chilly but from mid morning to mid afternoon it is warm and sunny enough to do some sunbathing on the beach. El Portus offers camping pitches as well as mobile homes and apartments to rent. To take a look at their facilities go to www.elportus.com/en
Hope this helps, but if you need any further info please don't hesitate to ask.
We have been going to EP for our annual holidays for several years. We keep our caravan at the site and fly to and from Spain every year.

Just had a quick look (on our way out at the mo) and it looks pretty good! Will take a longer look as it seems a good spot to base ourselves.

Thanks!

Benalnatura is OK and there will be people on the beach but the sea is at it's coldest from January through to March when water from the Atlantic is washed in. Having tried it I won't be doing it again!

We'd recommend Vera Playa. We have an apartment in the naturist area and spent Christmas 2012 here, with temperatures reaching 23 deg C daily. Let us know if you'd like more information.

BTW El Portus is about an hour drive north of Vera. 2 venues relatively close worth considering.

We often go to Costa del Sol at New Year after spending Christmas at home as we're members of a holiday club who have a number of resorts there. We have never really had bad weather although I suppose you can be unlucky. I can certainly recommend Benalnatura beach - we spent many naked days there at the start of this year.

We have been going to EP for our annual holidays for several years. We keep our caravan at the site and fly to and from Spain every year.

If you are planning to travel in a camper it is worth knowing that El Portus participates in the off-season ACSI discount scheme. Camping for 2 (and a dog if you have one), your pitch and electric hook-up for €16 euro a night.

And Almanat, east of Malaga, is the same.

http://www.campingcard.co.uk/gb/en/europe/spain/andalusia/camping-naturista-almanat-110058/?campName=Camping+Naturista+Almanat

We stayed at both earlier in the year, and enjoyed the best value Spanish camping available. You need to purchase the annual ACSI guidebook, which has a membership card with it to take advantage of the special rates - it runs from January to December, so you'd require the 2015 edition, which will be available from December.

http://webshop.acsi.eu/en/campingcard-acsi2015.html

You can also order it through the Camping and Caravanning Club and the Caravan Club. It has circa 2,700 discounted European campsites including plenty of French naturist locations. We were in Spain and Portugal for five weeks in our camper and used it a lot.

If you want some naturist camping near Vere Playa you could stop off at Cuevas Mar, which is a textile site with a naturist section, about a mile from the main nude beach. Fairly basic, but perfectly adequate from our perspective.

And one more suggestion, between El Portus and Vera Playa - Camping El Zorro - a very nice Dutch-owned site. The access requires driving a long (3km) dusty track, but perfectly OK and well worth the effort.

Have a great trip if you decide to go. And if you'd like any more info on any of the above, or other places to stay in Spain just ask on here or pm me.

Evening all,

I have sometimes wondered why BN cannot offer the same discounts as ACSI.at naturist campsites.  At one fell swoop they would answer the question . What do I get out of my subs.  As you know the savings can be be very substantial with Acsi.

ACSI, the Dutch camping organisation, has huge marketing power right across across much of Europe - the guide is published in a number of different languages - and hence is able to secure some good off-season discounts.

However, there are in fact a number of naturist sites in France, in particular, that offer a decent discount to BN members.
