Once you done it you will regret not trying earlier.
In Essex there is a self catering place called "Pevors Farm" http://www.pevorsfarm.co.uk/   which is a great place to start

I was also very very nervous last year on my first time camping trip in the UK. Everyone I met there and everyone I have spoken to on NC since have all made me feel very comfortable. So don't worry just take it one step at a time and at your own pace you will enjoy I promise.

I actually found that when I was on a beach first time I was very nervous, I find that the more naturists I have around me the easier and more relaxed i am. My confidence level was not high, it certainly has made me be more confident since i have been a naturist.

thank you everyone i have checked out pevors farm and it looks a lovely place. i will book up a holiday for later in the year, as i think it will help me with my inhibitions that i have always had about myself. As you say the more naturist around will prob make it easier as your all in the same boat. thank you again for your advice xx

Naturists come in all shapes and sizes with different levels of self confidence. Think how you feel if you wanted to join say a badminton club or a volunteer group. You would wonder if you could play OK or have the skills involved with volunteering. The vast vast majority of existing members will want to support you. So it is with social naturism.

Good luck with your naturism

The first time, the more naturists around you the better. If you're the only one clothed, you won't be able to strip off fast enough!

And then the worst bit will be over, because as soon as you start wandering around and chatting to people, you won't even have time to think about being naked.

You don't need to be confident to start with, that soon comes once you give it a go and find how easy and relaxing this naturism thing is.

Given your location I can't recommend highly enough the swim at Prested Hall near Colchester. Great facilities and a welcoming crowd of genuine naturists. I went for some years before my move west.

I'm sure you'll enjoy the lifestyle

All you need is the love of being naked. If you are happy to be nude together, then it's odds one that social naturism will be for you too. Naturist Corner will give you plenty of ideas about how to expand your interest. It's a fine place to start your journey.

We  are all different and most of us very nervous the first time.  For years before trying it I had been curious as to why anyone should want to bare all in public.  I think that the best way to start is to go to a CO beach and  simply "Go for it" it is easier if are others nude there already but as long as you know it is a place where it's OK just do it.  If people pass then just carry on as you are and you will quickly find being naked feels so right.  The more you do it the more relaxed you become.  You could at home closet nudity first but this is nothing like beach nudity.

You may become addicted and look for more opportunities to get your kit off, we all have different boundaries and comfort levels.

My first time was a beach. I stumbled on to it with the wife. Everyone was nude so we felt like the odd ones out. We dared each other, the first swim nude is amazing, you can not put it into words?
After a few hours we were saying  "goodmorning" to eveyone.

Try it, you will love it. I have to try a club next for my progression into a fully fledged naturist  😉

Whilst I sleep naked and have time at home alone to be naked, never gone naked on a beach, perhaps I should add this to my bucket list of things to do before I die. 8)

diyman...walking around at home is a great way to start...with the winter coming you can be warm and comfortable at surprisingly low temperatures. Just remember to have a robe or shorts available for when the doorbell rings, which I find it inevitably does. While I might not have any qualms about answering the door naked I'm pretty sure the person on the other side won't be as keen, I'm no Brad Pitt.
I have no concerns about being nude in the conservatory or garden, our garden is not overlooked without trying...anyone who sees me/us has to be trying quite hard to see, they can have no complaint then.
