There is a beach in Lincolnshire known as Theddlethorpe which, though unofficial, is an excellent place for nude sunbathing. The best way from Peterborough would be to trace your way up the A16 towards Grimsby and then turn right at Louth. Theddlethorpe is a massive beach with a north and south end but the best and easiest option is to head for Churchill Lane car park. Access to the beach is via a narrow track in the shrubs which has a few obstacles being sand covered and having a slight incline at the beach. Once at the beach, turn left and walk a couple of hundred yards along flat sand and you are there. This beach is at its best during the week but is excellent at weekends which is when I go. All you have to be careful of on Saturdays are the dog walkers. Theddlethorpe used to be heaving with naturists years back but these days only a handful use the place. This is such a shame really.

Three suggestions on the south / south-west coast - which I realise is not exactly local to you, but perhaps on holiday?

Eastney beach, on the eastern outskirts of Portsmouth, requires a level walk of 300 - 400 yards from the car park.

Studland beach, near Swanage, Dorset requires a level walk of about half a mile on mostly firm level sand along the shoreline from the National Trust car park at Knoll Beach. Select the furthest north-east car parking section and cross the narrow area of low dunes on a slightly soft sandy path, then walk along the firm sand at the water's edge to access the naturist section of the beach. There are toilets, a cafe and a National Trust shop at the parking area. I recall there is a wooden boardwalk onto the firm sand near the restaurant, though using it would  make the walk very slightly further to the nude bathing zone. Oh and if not a member of NT the parking is expensive. It may be too much for your wife? but the beach is lovely and swimming is also excellent and sheltered, so no big waves and easy access to the sea.

Slapton Sands / Pilchard Cove - near Dartmouth, South Devon. There's a large car park behind the beach - pay-and-display - and there are toilets there too. From the car park there are a few reasonably easy steps down to a level path that runs along the back of the beach. After 350-400 yards turn right towards the sea across the fine shingle for the bare bathing area. Walking on the shingle can be hard going, but it's comfortable to lie on. Originally, nude bathing started in Pilchard cove at the  far north end of the beach, but there's no need to go anywhere near that far these days.

We would recommend Studland Beach, although it is quite a long, but good, walk from the nearest car park (or the Sandbanks ferry).

I sometimes use the sandhills in the Southport / Ainsdale coast. There are very few naturists about but you can always find a secluded spot were you can be alone and not disturbed.

I you are interested in trying Slapton Sands and want to take your caravan, you could do worse than pitching up at Manor Farm, in Strete - about a mile-and-a-half, or maybe two miles from the beach. There's a naturist camping area at the site - details here:

http://www.manorfarmstrete.co.uk/

There's a 'Naturist' tab to click on the left of the home page.

Oh, and if you want to go to Eastney, there's a commercial (textile) caravan site almost adjacent to the nude beach - Southsea Leisire Park.

http://www.southsealeisurepark.com/

https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=Southsea+Leisure+Park++Melville+Road+Southsea,+Hampshire+PO4+9TB.&hl=en&ll=50.787021,-1.039313&spn=0.003927,0.010568&sll=51.403061,-2.850952&sspn=0.248017,0.676346&t=h&z=17

The naturist area on the shore begins immediately to the east of the eastern boundary of the caravan site.

I know how you feel Mark and Tracey, most naturist beaches have a bit of a walk to get to them, my wife is not in good health so i ended up going by myself, which is no fun, until naturism is accepted in the uk a long walk to the beach is always going to be a problem.
