I am going to La Palma in a few weeks time, not for a naturist holiday but for the walking, wildlife, astronomy and hopfully sun. But it would be good to find some beaches where you can get naked. Has anyone on here any advise or up-to-date infomation on this island.
Quick Google came up with a beach near Puerto Naos..See http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowTopic-g187475-i4235-k6648739-Naturist_beaches-La_Palma_Canary_Islands.html

We spent a week on La Palma a couple of years ago and thought it was a lovely island. Hopefully, you will be impressed by the walking, wildlife and astronomy.
The amount of sunshine varies throughout the island. The day we drove up to the summit at Roque de las Muchachos - in the area where there are a lot of telescopes - in the Parque Nacional de la Caldera de Taburiente, it was wet all the way with damp low cloud until we got within a few hundred feet of the top, and we popped out in to bright sunshine above the cloud.
We stayed at Fuencaliente, on the south-west coast and had excellent weather at the hotel (La Palma Princess), but could frequently see low cloud and rain - often less than a mile away up the mountainside. It was November, one of the wetter months I believe, and we chose the location carefully following some research because it is in something of a rain shadow.
Also, the hotel had a pleasant naturist area with sunbeds, umbrellas, a plunge pool and sauna.
We found a beach two or three miles down the road where we were perfectly comfortable to strip off. I've never seen it mentioned as a naturist location, but it is very easy to access with handy parking at the roadside and well constructed path onto the shore - dark grey/black volcanic sand/gravel. We went to the north side of the bay (on the right in the Google link) and found a Spanish chap stripped off. There were three of us in our party and we just did likewise - very enjoyable it was too.
There was some building work going on at the beach - I suspect a cafe under construction - so whether the atmosphere will have changed I don't know. But Sue and I would certainly return there. We'd also like to go back to the island and the hotel.
Oh, and the lighthouse is worth a visit on the southern tip of the island.
I'd heard about Puerto Naos, but we didn't manage to get there.
Hope you have a great time and do let us know how you got on.
Mike
Thanks, for the info. We are staying a couple of miles from Puerto Naos so we will give it a try and maybe the Sunchaser beach if we are visiting the south. I have heard that the area by the lighthouse is good for seawatching for whales and dolphins
We have booked a visit to one of the observatories at Roque de las Muchachos, don't know which one until will get there.
Cheers
Chris
Great stuff!
I think Puerto Naos should be a good location for catching the better weather too.
There are some apartments there that are supposed have a designated naturist sunbathing terrace - Melia La Palma Sol Apartments (I believe there's also an adjacent hotel with the same name).

Cheers, Mike
Edited to add, I see there is still mention of the nudist terrace on the company website, towards the bottom of this link:

Hi Chris!
We are going to La Palma in February (first time). I did some search and you may be interested to read the news at the below link:

Good luck!
Had a great time but didn't get to any naturist beaches. However our apartment had a nice large balcony where I could lay out in the sun unseen. Not an island I would recomend for naturism but a great place for a weeks break in winter to get some sun, especially if walking, wildlife, scenary are your thing.

Glad you had a great time on La Palma! We'd certainly like to return; and reasonably good naturist opportunities from our perspective, though I can see that aspect might not meet everybody's needs.
