Does anyone have any experience with clothing optional beaches in California? I live in Southern California, but I have yet to go to any of the so called "nude" beaches. I'm not sure if any beaches are officially clothing optional. Any suggestions?
I normally sunbathe naked in my backyard, but I would love to spend a naked day at a beach.
BDK, have a look here:

there's Bakers Beach just by the bridge in San Francisco and several more private ones on the coast road south of the city
Blacks Beach in San Diego is the most famous one though I think
I really should have been born on a tropical island

Sue and I have been on Baker beach a couple of times and enjoyed it - lovely backdrop with the Golden Gate Bridge in full view.
But a real favourite for us was Secret Cove on the shores of Lake Tahoe - admittedly, just three or four miles over the state border, on the north-east shore, in Nevada.

I've been to Baker beach in San Francisco, although this was to photograph the Golden Gate. It was mostly men at the time, and quite a few who were clearly exhibitionists strutting up and down the beach. But it's a nice beach, so worth a visit.
I spent the day at Orr Hot Springs which is CO, a little basic but a nice way to spend a day relaxing. Also went to Laguna Del Sol which was a very nice place.

Slightly off topic, but we also enjoyed a stopover at Laguna del Sol - on the way from SF to Lake Tahoe - and were impressed by the setting and facilities on offer.
