I am very new to naturism so new that I am yet to have my first experience though very keen.

I wonder if anyone knows of any walks in the Berkshire area that other naturists use for walks or even better if any of you are thinking of having a walk, naked hike coudl I join you ?

I would second the recommendation to do a few walks with the SOC. They are a good mix of folks and it is easy to get involved in conversations on the walk as the group tends to break into smaller sub-groups that chat together, but which reform each time the group stops to allow back markers to catch up or for a tea or lunch stop. As a result, you tend to find yourself talking to lots of different people during the day and even a relatively retiring person will find that he is not left on the outside.

Some folks are put off by the length of the walks (9 to 11 miles typically) but they aren't as gruelling as that sounds, as they are generally conducted at a leisurely pace of around 1.5 to 2 miles an hour overall.

The SOC walks provide a sense of safety in numbers that make sit easy to get a feel for naked walking without getting stressed about the need to stay unseen. A smaller group or going it alone requires a lot of self-confidence and could feel quite stressful at first although with practise it gets easier and more relaxing.

I will be on some of the SOC walks this year, certainly the Hoo Peninsular walk on Saturday 25 July (although Mrs M may crucify me for it as it is the day she will be expecting to go out for her birthday (which is the following day). Thanks very much for all the info on walks with SOC. I will contact them and yes would gladly join you fore the Hoo for a walk in that area as a little familar with the area as lived for a year on St Marys Island not so far away.

That's pretty brave but I have to say I am jealous!

often when I go walking I will leave my clothes in the car, the areas I walk tend to be quite remote so it isn't often I meet anyone, and when I have whilst they might be a little surprised I have never had any problems.

Care to share where Clare if you dare and can spare for us to compare 🙂

Ive joined SOC and await the membership card and first naked walk end of April.

I am new to naturism like the thought of being free from clothes as my work means a suit daily mon-fri so what a releif to leave that behind.

looking to join BN today and then meet like minded hopefully at a naturist club or beach when its warm once more..

Tenerife Los Christianos    Take a walk up the headland at very end of Christianos  a very easy walk, not as bad as it looks, once at the top you are in the countryside and can walk for miles I would be naked from about a quarter of the way up the hill and had no bad reaction from other walkers.

Erring on the side of caution while out on general footpaths, I also tend to carry a pair of loose fitting shorts rolled up in one of the side pockets of my bag. These are cycle rainshorts with a zip and pop button, so really quick to jump into if need be. Everything else will be in my bag, although I might leave a jersey/jumper with full-length zip near the top (I can feel odd being seen shirtless if the sun's not quite there). Definitely check you can reach to quickly pull the shorts out, and above anything else check they fit over your boots!

I keep meaning to look for a pair of lighter coloured and looser shorts, almost skin tone, so that someone in the distance doesn't see a difference if I get closer... It can feel more awkward to walk past someone half dressed, after they've clearly seen you struggling into dark shorts! :laugh:

Visibility is also key. That doesn't necessarily mean covering up every time you can't see a good distance ahead or behind, but just be more ready to grab cover-up, and "learn" the general footfall of areas so you know the likelihood of an encounter.

Finally, a smile... make sure you go out with the mindset of being a friendly, harmless rambler, not someone doing something "wrong", and it rubs off. 🙂

I'm surprised we don't trip up over each other (even more likely if we are all struggling to jump into our loose fitting shorts 😉 ); there seem to be so many of us enjoying a naked walk in the great outdoors.

As many have mentioned there is strength in numbers - a lone naked rambler, looks (to many) as odd. A group and all of a sudden it's a social outing. Do people feel we are reaching a critical mass where something akin to the SOC walks could be started in the North of the UK?

I'm sure between us we could sew the first seeds of a regular naturist walking group... I welcome your thoughts???

I would definitely be interested in joining a walk (a few to a large group) anywhere near cambs.  Safety in numbers!

Hi when my wife and I go on nude bush walks here in Australia we tend to wear a bum bags that sits on our hips so we can carry a pair of shorts and a t-shirt to cover up if we need to. We have done many nude walks over the years and have been lucky not to need to cover up but its there if we do.
