my camera has a 10 second self timer, is there a camera that has longer

Our cameras have interval timers aswell as the self timer.  Does yours?  We find it much easier to use that.  No rushing back in front of the camera and just delete the photos you don't want.

I have a couple of Canon's, an aging compact and a slightly newer "bridge" type. Both allow the self-timer to be set for up to 30 seconds delay and also offer the facility of a burst of up to 10 pictures at the end of the delay. That has been pretty useful. The compact also has a time lapse mode which can work well if you are staying in one area, set it and forget it. Have a look later and see what you caught yourself doing 🙂

Ten seconds is probably long enough, if you have everything set up........ but that interval timer sounds useful?.

Our profile shot is a self timer one. 10 seconds is ample time to prepare and get into position provided you are not too far from the camera. On this occasion we took about 20 shots trying to be a bit artistic.

If you have an I Phone of I pad the free CamMe app is very good an gives you infinite control of taking photos from in front of the lens.

I just got a phone app that operates my camera [different apps for different cameras] - works fine in that you can see what you're taking - makes you look younger as well cos you've got your phone in your hand!

I've just paid a tenner on E_Bay for a remote timer for my Pentax - it'll work with any DSLR that has a 3mm jack.

I bought it for mucking about with time-lapse, but you can set a delay of anything between 1 second and 99 hours (!)  and will take up to 400 photographs at the press of a button.

Almost all my shots are self timer too - it certainly is trial and error and always good to get 2 or 3 shots of the same pose to make sure everything is all in focus.

I enjoy posing nude and experiment taking different artistic poses using my tablet and 10 sec. timer. I would really like a session with a professional photographer and compile a portfolio of nude shots. I also get annoyed when people say older bodies, especially male, are ugly as I am very proud of my body and not ashamed of anyone seeing me naked.

I recently invested in a cheap remote shutter control from amazon which was compatible with my camera and it works really well. It saves the time and hassle of having to use the self timer and then get in position. It's also vital to invest in some form of camera tripod.

I just need to do a better job of hiding the remote in my hand when taking the photo!

Useful devices. My smart phone has an app to remotely trigger my Lumix and I bought a radio controlled thingymejig to operate the Nikon. It only cost a few pounds on ebay.
