From various reports on the web, it is a swingers place in all but name. It isn't endorsed by BN and hasn't been since  2009. I haven't been so I can't comment, but just so's you are aware. It might be better at some times than others but it does seem to cater for that element.

I was on business in the area some years ago and decided to stay overnight just to see what the place was like. Have to say I wasn't particularly comfortable with the the general set up. I also wasn't impressed by the quality of the accommodation. Of course that may be different now, but I was pleased my wife wasn't with me because I know she would have been unhappy.

Sorry to sound somewhat negative. If it's not far away, it might still be worth a trip to check it out and see for yourself.

If you're around that neck of the woods then the Naturist Foundation near Orpington is the place to go 🙂

Thanks Simon, we looked at the naturist foundation but they are not accepting visitors until the 11th April. We are just looking for somewhere to stop off on our way home from Dover tomorrow for a little relaxation after what will be a long busy day.

Re Silverleigh I have been there many times when I work down that way - for the nudist facilities only. For a club its not that bad (not great), but it does have a pool, sauna, steam, hot tub. And yes singers do go there but in the main areas nothing of that nature takes place and in general people are friendly (and I don't mean in a touchy way). A lot more men than women but since I go there mainly to just be able to swim naked in the winter. Bed rooms are very basic B&B type rather poor.

No joining fees, just pay when you want to go.

We have been going to Silverleigh on and off over the past 20 years and have always enjoyed the good spa facilities and sunbathing lawns.

Facilities look god on their website, not heard of this place before. Seems to be a little out of the way if using public transport, but might be OK on a non-party night.

After reading some reviews on the old inter web we have decided it is not the place for us as it does seem to be a swingers place rather than a naturist spa. Again a swingers club mascurading as a naturist venue.

Tend to agree. Went once years ago and it was a bit run down.

Was there last weekend, the spa facilities are quite good but the rooms and general hotel side of the club leave a lot to be desired. We would recommend a day visit but stay somewhere else.

We went to Silverleigh in May 2003 for about an hour.  We had booked for four days from Friday 25th to Monday 28th to take in our wedding anniversary on 26th.  From their advert in the BN Magazine describing themselves as a 'health spa', the images on their website and the fact that they were affiliated to BN, it seemed to be ideal.

We arrived about lunch time to discover that the club was in fact a converted residential property.  Not a problem as we had previously enjoyed an excellent few days away at Dilly Dally's when they operated from a converted house.

When we entered the front door we were greeted by a gentleman who processed our payment.  In hindsight this is where alarm bells should have started to ring.  Silverleigh's pricing policy had one price for men, a much lower price for women and a couple's price somewhere in between.  This meant that it was cheaper to book in as a single man plus a single woman rather than a couple.  If I remember correctly it cost us about £180.

After we paid, the gentleman gave us a tour of the premises.  We went down a hallway and he pointed out the toilet and shower room which was small dark and dirty.  Zeeboo was not impressed.  The hallway led to what used to be the lounge and it was then that we realised the stale smell we'd noticed was cigarette smoke.  Entering the lounge the gentleman told us that it was a continental breakfast and the cereals and other foods were stored on the right hand side of the room and was therefore no smoking.  This was despite the fact that the lady he introduced us to as the owner was in fact sitting next to the food cupboards smoking.  He then pointed out that the left hand side was the smoking area.  This was a house lounge! A smoke cloud hung in the air over the whole room.  Not exactly what I'd equate with the word 'health'.  Both Zeeboo and I had attended textile health spas in the past and smoking was not allowed even before the ban.

There were about six or so people in the room and everyone had a towel wrapped around them despite the website depicting naked people.

We were taken to our room, room 50 I assumed a zero had been added to the 5.  The room was sparsely furnish and unbelievably dirty.  The grime on the headboard was so thick that it could scrapped off with a finger nail.  The window, which was to the front of the house, instead of having frosted glazing had a frosted plastic sheet evo-stiked to the frame which looked dirty and tacky.  The wardrobe and dressing table was a homemade bodge up with no drawers in any of the furniture.  The chair was a white plastic garden chair.

We were told that the mini gym was next to our room.  This comprised of four cheap and flimsy apparatus and a set of dumbbells.  Everything looked as though it had been bought from a car boot sale.

At this point Zeeboo was in tears.  This was supposed to be where we going the spend our wedding anniversary.  We stayed just long enough to take photos of the room and gym before leaving the keys on the front desk.  We never went back not even for the £180 we had just parted with.  The only reason we didn't report Silverleigh to trading standards is that we didn't want some smart arse to point out the it was affiliated to BN.  We did however send an email to BN together with the photos we'd taken but never received a reply.  This was one of the deciding reasons why we never renewed our BN membership.

I still have the photos twelve years later and shudder at though of how dire this place was.

Zeeboo - I notice you are again BN members and I seem to remember that Silverleigh was removed at about the same time as Eureka.
While they both may have been perfectly respectable at one time they certainly deteriorated through the 90's and Silverleigh now appears to have hit rock bottom.

I see hubby's been posting.  I still get emotional about that episode, we ended up in a B&B in Ramsgate.

We were harangued by a nice lady named Angela at the Stoke swim about three years ago and rejoined for a one off special offer of £10.00 and been members ever since.
