Playalinda Beach is located on the Space Coast in Florida, adjacent to the Kennedy Space Center east of Titusville. To the north is Apollo Beach in Volusia County south of New Smyrna Beach. Playalinda and Apollo are part of the Merritt Island Wildlife Refuge which encompasses 140,000 acres including the entire Kennedy Space Center. Both beaches are part of the Cape Canaveral National Seashore. Unlike most beaches in Florida, Playalinda and Apollo are maintained in their raw, natural state devoid of any development except for parking lots, wooden crossovers and portable toilets.
The beaches offer excellent backcountry and hiking experiences. The "Backcountry" area, also referred to as Klondike Beach, is the section of beach between the northern-most end of Playalinda and the southern-most end of Apollo. There is abundant wildlife including alligators, eagles, bobcats, tortoises, armadillos, racoons, opossums and birds.
Only the portion of Playalinda past the northern most parking lot is traditionally used by nudists. The rest of the beach south to the northmost boundary of KSC is family friendly.
An interesting feature of the beaches is that nudity is permitted in national parks as there is no law against it. The park rangers will not cite you for nudity. However there is a catch. Nudity on the beach is subject to county nudity laws, which prohibit public nudity. There was a time when the county law enforcement would periodically troll the beaches and issue citations for nudity. As far as I know, this hasn't happened for years. Of course any lewd behavior will subject one to arrest by the park rangers.
Apollo Beach has a reputation for being more popular with gays. Unfortunately some of the activities there are not in keeping with the precepts of nudism.
Part of Apollo Beach is sometimes referred to as Haulover Beach, which is confusing as there is a much more well-known Haulover Beach in Miami.
I live just 15 miles southwest of The Canaveral National Seashore.

This should get some interesting comments, Is this the normal thoughts of the naturists in California that you would not have families on the naturist beaches?

Great beach. Would def recommend. If you're planning to visit the Kennedy Space Centre, it's worth a detour (small fee to enter the nature reserve)
I have been to Apollo beach several times. It is important to note that you have to park at lot #5 and stay to the south of the boardwalk to stay within the community of naturists. This is a beautiful beach. Also note, arrive early as the lot fills up fast. It is very small and you will get a ticket if you park anywhere other than a designated parking spot.
I see that this is an older post, so I might create a new one at the end of this thread. (edited: looks like it automatically put it back on the front page. cool!)
Fabulous beach although the waves can be a little lively but well worth a visit .
