I had walked a little in local woods and had sunbathed in my garden but I had not been in public as it were before.
There was a large open room for changing and I entered, no one spoke to me so I just collected my bag and got undressed. I felt a bit self conscious although I don't know why as everyone bar the guy giving out bags was naked.
However when I went outside all inhibitions left me as I felt the warmth of the sun all over me. I walked around the site , People were very friendly whatever I went and I soon settled into the routine. The staff were clothed but clearly were used to the naturists being on site and were very friendly.
I thoroughly enjoyed my day at Abbey gardens and look forward to returning later this year , I am keeping an eye out for the dates that the gardens are opened.

Just looked at the AHG website, clothes optional days are still 'to be announced.' Odd, because last time the dates were up shortly after the final CO day of the previous year.

I hope they still go ahead with them, as I went to all but one last year. Still, time will tell, keep checking.

God give me patience ... but I want it NOW!!My YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/steveteb/videos

I contacted AHG the other day regarding CO days as I saw a contact us tab on their website. I got a quick response saying that they have not yet decided whether to have any CO days this year and that if there were, that they would be announced at short notice. I replied saying that there was plenty of demand. Not sure if more people asking would have any effect, I suppose its all to do with the possible sale.

Well that sounds pretty negative. I really really do hope they put some on this year, I'd allowed myself to get my hopes up. I wonder what the reticence is.

He has probably been told by the lawyers that pre-announced clothes-optional dates may prejudice a sale.

I'm very sorry if there can be no CO days on the strength of that. We had all hoped we wouldn't lose it, but it isn't looking likely that we will get back there.

His enthusiasm for naturism plus the extra profitability of the clothing-optional days will undoubtedly mean that we will get some short notice days if it isn't already sold.

I really hope that AHG will have clothing optional days this year. Made my first visit last August and spent the whole afternoon there. Fantastic experience. Is anyone aware of any other large gardens that open to the public and have CO days or evenings?

There are some others planned, including some further north.
Details on the BN site.

Website for Abbey House shows CO date as 24 May, 2015, gates open at 11am. As this may be final chance to wander around a beautiful garden, I hope as many of us as possible will be going. Who knows large gate receipts might persuade a new owner to continue with clothing optional opening. Link.

Keep monitoring for more dates at short notice.

We were gutted that the last two CO days had bad weather! We're hoping that the last one this year (perhaps ever) on the 13th Sept has some sunshine - it'll be a shame to miss the experience
