Stayed in Benalmadena a number of years ago never made it to the naturist beach as the kids were with us and there are no under 18s. The town was great and the beaches we went to were fantastic sadly they were all textile.

8) I'm even luckier than you cos I live here ,try this place Almanat FKK its just off the N340 just before Torre del mar your see a torro bull up on the hill just before road on right down to beach car park costs 2€ but it a real nice beach there's also a bar on the beach as well

I visited the two naturist beaches nearest to Malaga this weekend.

On Saturday, I went to San Julian nudist beach. I got the train to Plaza Mayor and started walking towards the sea. (I think it would have been 25 minutes if I'd got my directions right.) The unofficial area is the whole length of the golf course whilst the official end is just the few hundred metres at the Malaga end of the golf course.

It was very busy, with a good atmosphere. Water was cold but bearable, and it was easy to get into the water. I had read that this beach had a lot of "textiles". There were several all-female groups wearing bikini bottoms, so perhaps this is what they meant.

On Sunday, I went to Benalnatura, which is fifteen minutes walk from Torremuelle station. Much easier to find as well. I just walked towards the sea and there are signs at each beach listing all the beaches in order at the bottom, so I knew 4 beaches to the left was Benalnatura. It's a small cove, which got very crowded and it's nudist and clothing is not optional - it is banned. At least 200 people. I've never heard so much English on a foreign nudist beach before, including a group of five twenty-something Brits including three women.

The most notable moment of the day was when, after several arguments in Spanish, a group of two bikini bottomed women and their naked friend were hounded off the beach by incessant clapping for not being naked. From seeing how less were going completely naturist the previous day, I understand they need to protect their beach, but it came across as bullying and I didn't like it at all. There may have been a more nuanced argument, but I didn't understand the Spanish.

Entering the water here is really hard-definitely take water shoes or at least flip flops if you plan to swim. Otherwise, you will get cut feet.

A previous poster suggested children were not allowed at Benalnatura. This does not seem to be true anymore-there were several families here. The mandatory nudity rule does apply to them.

I would recommend both these beaches.

I love Benalnatura beach although I have not been in the main season. We were there over the New Year period 2013/14 and off-season it is much more relaxed and quieter although the bar is not open then. The signs do indicate that clothing is not allowed but nobody was enforcing it; even so it was probably still 95% naked.

I would also support Benalnatura. I have been there for the last 3 years. It is small, friendly, with a small bar and seating area at the back. The food and drink is reasonably priced. Loos are clean and the shower is fine. There is a real mix of people: singles, couples, straight & gay, Spanish and visitors, and I have also seen a number of families. The comments regarding the sea and walking on the rocks are true. They are very sharp and entry into the sea is quite steep. Overall I love it and find it a great place to relax.
There is another thread in the forum stating that the authorities have cut down many of the trees that are behind the beach and that the roads have been changed. This is a shame as it was ususally easy to park in the morning as I drove down from Benalmadena Pueblo.
I hope to visit again this year and will feed back then.
A word of caution regarding Cabopino. I went there last year and have been many times before. I love the beach with its textile, straight, gay areas which are obvious. There are 'observers' strolling by, but I don't mind, as it is nice and acceptable to walk along the beach naked. The supervised car park was full and I parked just beyond only to return to find my car had been broken in to and my bag stollen from the boot. If you can't park where it is monitored then I would not park. I hope this helps.

Thanks to Evaquod and Smooth1 for some comprehensive comments. It's much appreciated. I am staying at Hotel Reserva Del Higueron so am hoping it will be close enough to walk to the beach. There is a road train but I think I may only need it on the return journey when it's all steeply uphill.
