I've been a keen photographer since University days when I was part of the uni photography club.
I'm also just as comfortable in front of the camera as I am behind the lens and I've done a little bit of modelling in recent years.
My partner David also shares my interest.
I'm looking for recommendations of any good camera clubs in the Staffordshire area. It would be good to meet up with like-minded new friends on a regular basis.

Having explored a good number of 'Camera Clubs' (or as some rather prefer to be known as ... Photographic Societies) in our area we came to the conclusion that they have a bit of a Marmite flavour. Lots of folks no doubt love them. We went with open minds, looking for inspiration and came away a little disappointed, certainly from three of the larger ones.
For inspiration however, you really can't beat 500px.com
As well as camera clubs, it is also a good idea to look out for photographic workshops which offer practical advice and hands on photography. I have been involved with three photographic clubs all very briefly, and found them to be more about cameras than photography. Also, they showed great signs of being somewhat over competitive and one professional chum of mine came out with the view that clubs are places where bad habits are shared.
However, I have probably been unlucky and good clubs must exist.

Useful advice.
I know the local college has an art department with a fairly good reputation which includes photography courses. I'm half-tempted to enrol on a part-time course as it might also put me in touch with some people and we can form our own little "club".
