we went to Leysdown today, really nice day, quite busy, it was good to see some ladies brave enough to bare on their own or with their friends. fortunately no gawkers 🙂 But the road down to the beach is awful,, good job we had the 4x4 with the ground clearance, maybe the lunar rover will be a better choice for next time

Agree with the above poster. The final part of the 'road' to the beach is a nightmare. We only have a little Fiesta and it fell down a few holes a couple of times. Take it very slow even if only not to whip up too much dust behind you.
Good day though, last Friday. Having said that, we'd only go there on a hot day if the tide is in. If it's out, you have no way to cool off, you can't reach the sea when the tide is fully out.
Have to say, don't know if anyone would agree with this or not...There is a footpath for the general public which kind of overlooks the beach and dunes area where the naturists are. There maybe a few weirdos and pervs on the Nudist beach and dunes section but I would by far prefer any amount of them over the gawkers who 'just happen' to be walking along the footpath who can often be heard giggling or making remarks about the nudists.
Just my opinion but I'm not a fan of the moral, critical, righteous and judgemental general public who know best
I was there last Friday afternoon, so we might have nodded hello.
It was a glorious day and the sea came in just in time for some cooling dips before home time.
I find Leysdown a friendly little beach and the passing "traffic" does not seem to be that heavy or mind that much. If you stick to the "sand" (there is more of it these days and less shell) just over the lip of the grass, you should have a relatively peaceful stay. Hope to bump into you next time. Keith

We usually go to Leysdown or Fairlight on either a Wednesday or Sunday. those are the only 2 days we're both off work at the same time. Which means, on either of those 2 days it has to be good weather. So taken over a year, thats very few days in total.

We went down today, it was quite busy as well. Fortunately the tide was in for a bit which allowed for some cooling off, and many people did. Really good day 🙂

Same, we won't be going this week as Wendy wants to get more done on the garden.
However, now it's August, we do intend to get to Leysdown and Fairlight as much as we can before we run out of Summer, so we'll be there as much as we can after this weekend on Sundays and or Wednesdays
I went to Leysdown for the first time on Sunday. I met a member of NC there and we chatted to a naturist and nodded hello to another, so that was about 30% of beach users accounted for. There was a family with young girl who was fully dressed but ran and played on the beach and in the dunes. It was remarkarble for its unremarkable - ness. Just another day playing out on the beach.
Its true, its not the prettiest beach using the conventional definition of the word, but i was mesmerized by its brutal landscape. The shells nearest the dunes are whole, then broken, coarsely ground which is where the sand comes in. flip flops worked for me and stopped me sinking into the mud flats.
The tide was way, way out, so the pinky brown shells led into the pale brown sand, and in turn into the brown mud into light brown water, into the blue sea and in the distance it was deep blue before merging with the blue sky. The different layers of colours complimented each other and i could sit for hours just taking it all in.
Towers and wind turbines could be seen in the distance, and the broken groynes all added to the unique landscape. Looking out to sea, I was struck at the sheer size and space of it all when in reality the naturist section is only about 100m long and the car park is 10m in the opposite direction to the sea.
The dunes are perfect natural wind breaks but i will bring my own next time and sit on the edge of the beach.

Went back today and the first thing i noticed was the road its a lot better still not great but the potholes arent as deep !
Went there maybe 30 years ago so I suspect it may have changed. It used to be quite well used.
Incidentally, there was a Channel 4 TV prog in (I think) the late 80s about a woman taking her daughter to a naturist facility and I believe they used Leysdown for the beach shots. Anyone else remember this?
I'm going to try it (my first outdoor excursion) maybe next week if the longterm weather forecast is correct. Just need to buy a cheap sun shelter/windbreak and a few essentials and away I go 🙂

I have been to the 'beach' a few time since I worked down that way a while ago - the final bit of the road is a dirt track and very bumpy - no facilities and it is often windy but with some shelter in the low dunes.
If you want to get some sun and swim, Eureka is quite close (and cheap) and has a very impressive pool - the place is frequented by swingers and the place allows open sexual activity, but they don't bother you if you keep to your self and the bottom field is great for sun bathing, reading a book and having a picknic - down side is there are many guys playing with their dicks but its quite easy to keep away from them.
There's also Naturist Foundation that's not too far, and that's a proper naturist club. They have a nice pool, miniten, volleyball etc and a large campsite surrounded by woodland. Think they have a Jazz and real ale festival this weekend.
Yes I remember looking at this, but I was never down at the weekend at they only allow day visitors at the weekend - but looks great if you live down there...
