Vault Beach is alway worth a look. It's the next bay from Gorran Haven near Mevagissie, Cornwall.
The beach is 1/2 textile and 1/2 naturist with both parties co-existing in a happy and relaxed manner. It's been a naturist beach for a long while and I think it's owned by the National Trust - someone will no doubt correcty me.
To get to it, drive into Gorran Haven and turn right up a steep single-track road and continue until to see a car park on the left. There is a National Trust honesty box in there for contributions.
The path from the car park is across a field, through a gate - then down down down a steep curving path to the beach. Great going down - not so great on the return journey.
The end 1/2 of the beach is the nuddy bit. Steep cliffs and sand/shingle and no facilities. No meekcats due to the cliffs - whoopie..Have a nice day.
They're out there....
Yes this is a nice beach and the report is a good summary.
We are thinking of going whilst we are in Cornwall after Nudefest.
Anyone know if it's any good for snorkelling?
Not sure if it's any good for snorkelling. We were there last October and the water was just warm enough to go in - then get back out again pdq ;D Brilliant beach though - we walked along the coast path from Mevagissey.
Hiya Seaside,
The water should be OK for snorkeling, the beach is a fairly gentle slope as you go out and the seabed would be mainly pebbles. So the water is pretty clear.
Having never snorkelled I don't really know what conditions you would look for. Should be warm (ish) by this time in the year - we are down there from 9th July.

Thanks for reply. Sadly returned from our holiday in Cornwall now and didn't make Vault Beach. 🙁
Clear water is pretty much essential to make it worthwhile and it's best if there are rocks or other features for fish etc to shelter in. It's also best if it's easy to get in and out easily as it's harder than normal with fins on. Warm water is a luxury. Also no jet skis as these are seriously dangerous! >:(
We discovered Vault beach this summer while on holiday in Cornwall. It is a really beautiful place. It's so quiet - even on a really hot day at the beginning of July. Parked in the NT car park on the hill just above the beach and walked down. Not to far to walk and beautiful view of the bay as you decent. Highly recommend this beach.
Well, I'm delighted everyone likes my local beach. I don't go there as often as I would like to but it is such a quiet and beautiful place. I was there a couple of weeks ago on a photoshoot with a young model and had warned her we may get a few naked helpers but it was absolutely deserted. We had the entire beach to ourselves throughout an August morning. Fabulous. IMHO this one deserves a higher profile, there's plenty of room for more happy people. 🙂
Thanks all for the information, a stunning picture as usual Ted.

PMs & emails welcome.
Trish and I also enjoyed using this beach a couple of years ago when we were in Cornwall

Good capture, not a beach I've been to but I have been speaking to a couple of models recently about a shoot in that area so may go along.
Sad to say - Havn't been to Cornwall for a few years. However Vault Beach has always been my favorite. Nice relaxing atmosphere.

just come back from a week in cornwall, stayed at a camping site about 1 mile away up on the top of the beach
we loved the beach, not crowded at all, about 10 people on the whole beach.
for snorkling, the water is crystal clear and the beach has a very gentle slope.
loved the beach ...and area so much were going back for a long weekend in a few weeks

I know this is an old post, but rather than starting a new one-
I went to Vault on Saturday, having checked it out whilst down there a month or so ago and thought it didn't look any more difficult to get to than Studland, yes a fairly steep access but closer I thought. Boy was I wrong! It's further to walk than studland - maybe the same horizontally but about plus 5 times that vertically. The locals may tell you it's the easiest naturist beach to access in the uk but that must be because they're like mountain goats! I was totally knackered getting down & back up but I do have a duff knee and no doubt any royal marine would think it kid's stuff. The beach is well worth it though - really lovely place. The only unfortunate thing is that after all that effort to get there it's only the very far end that's naturist. Why the hell can't the whole beach be clothing optional? I did push thing by initially stripping off half way along but gradually felt uncomfortable there and moved along to the edge of where all the other nude sunbathers were [only to subsequently have clothed people come & sit around me, but by then I wasn't going to move again]
I've put some pics of just the beach [my selfies didn't turn on well] on my gallery
I really should have been born on a tropical island
My fave beach in the uk and it's only a few miles me 🙂
The hill back up, does get easier. Nearly killed me the first time 😀
When I was there last year, again at Nudefest time, it was half naturist. Well recommeded beach and good for snorkelling. Probably the best I have been to.
