we've just come back from a weeks holiday in Santorini. I've been a member on here since january after my husband expressed his interest in going nude on the beach. I'm not body shy and i am frequently naked around the house.

with this in mind we found a nude friendly beach and my husband stripped off. it was not a crowded beach and went to one end and my husband stripped off. my daughter (5) who is naked all the time on any beach. even after a while and the fact no one bothered us i couldn't quite manage to take my bikini off.

i do go occasionally topless but not often. maybe when we go to france later in the year i might pluck up the courage.
i am not really sure what is holding me back.

All I can say is "go for it"  If you don't I guess you'll regret it.  At worst you'll find naturism is not for you whilst at best you'll find a new freedom.

Be assured that on a good French naturist beach no-one will bother that you are naked. You will be part of the beach crowd as on a non-naturist beach.

Good luck

Hi
I am impressed that you have been on the site to gain information at a point of interest and thank you for sharing your story.
I have found naturism a really liberating experience. It is a fabulous way of shedding the stresses and convention associated with work (certainly in professions in the UK).
We are in a similar, but not identical, position to you. We walk around the house naked on a daily basis. Our children (7 & 11) think nothing of us, or them, walking around naked. They are used to me being naked in the garden when sunbathing and no longer comment. My wife will go topless on a balcony on holiday and was topless when she joined me, naked, on the naturist part of a mixed beach in Spain, but would not take off her bikini bottoms. She is also not keen to join me in the sauna (which is compulsory textile free) in the spa in skiing holiday in Switzerland. There are many european couples and families in there as it is the norm.
When I took the children to the naturist part of a mixed beach they were not bothered and I don't recall them commenting. The other children were a mix of naked and wearing trunks/bikinis and again they did not differentiate. At no point did I feel  that they were vulnerable or that anything inppropriate was about to occur. The places I have been have been naturist beaches where there is no recognised swinging element nor any scene that I am aware of. There is a mixture of straight and gay bathers, but without any sexual element to their behaviour on the beach. I suspect that most places are like this. I have never been the the Cap d'Agde but from what I have read suspect it is different. Others may inform you of this.
My wife cannot engage at present and it has lead to us agreeing that I will holiday one week, or two long weekends, each year at a naturist site. You appear to be more willing to consider the option. For me I really wish she would come and join me and embrace it for what it is. For me it was, and remains, a truely amazing experience that I cannot turn back on. I alos think I look better without any awful white bits!. Equally I have to respect her position, and do.
A bit of a ramble, but I hope it helps. 🙂

I would advise small steps.

If you are happily nude in the house, try extending this to the garden. I would then suggest a proper naturist event (swim/club etc) as the attendance will be 100% naturist. Have you also considered joining British Naturism? They host many events throughout the year and particularly Women In Naturism http://www.bn.org.uk/activities/big_days_out.php/_/upcoming-events/bn-%E2%80%98women-in-naturism%E2%80%99-weekend-r60

Once you have stripped off in social events a few times, it then becomes second nature. Good luck and keep going.

Just wish my wife had the same views as me. She seems happy at being naked around the house but that is as far as it goes.

Hi great to see your open to the idea, same as Smooth1. Have either of you thought of attending a club in the UK? Smooth you are in London and there are some great clubs around, not sure of the situation in Bristol area.
We are members of the naturist foundation in Orpinton Kent and have arranged for all 6 of our kids to visit along with partners and our grand daughter. It is really family friendly and there is no pressure on anyone to go naked if you look on the website you'll see some weekends with events taking place. They have excellent camping facilities for tents, caravans and motor homes.
We had never considered a club until we went along and were really surprised at what we found even to the point of next year considering not taking our usual trip to Fuerteventura.

Well, CuriousGeorge, why not just go for broke and book into a naturist resort for your next hols.  Belezy, La Jenny, Costa Natura etc.  I'll bet you a very large sum of money that if you did that, not only would Mr and Miss Curious have a great time, but you would also be naked and unfazed within a short time of arrival and be thinking ''Why on earth haven't we done this before?''.

George, as you are in Bristol don't forget the Ridgewood Club which is near Clevedon, and about the same distance in the opposite direction, Abbey House Gardens, which holds clothes optional days. These may be in jeopardy, but are still going ahead this year as far as we know - the next one is Sunday July 26th.

Also, there is at least one club and several beaches in South Wales, which is not too far from here either.

God give me patience ... but I want it NOW!!My YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/steveteb/videos

Personally I would not suggest a club since these demand no clothes i.e. a pressure situation. I would suggest a longer holiday at CO a location - a CO camp site with beach for example with no pressure to strip off.

JM not all clubs demand your nude we were at the Jazz and Ale festival at the naturist foundation and there where people with there partners who were clothed all the time while there partner was nude. Like I said all my kids are visiting none of which are naturist and there's no one saying they have to be naked.
I do agree some clubs are like that but how are we going to attract new people to naturism, we have to let people see if it's for themselves. I personally think that is why a lot of clubs are disappearing because they insist on people being nude which to some is a big step. However if they were a little more relaxed it would encourage rather than dissuade people from naturism.

What is the factual basis for stating that a 'lot of clubs are disappearing' and it is due to the weird dress code that requires nudity in a naturist club?

It seems to me that the number of clubs here is probably more than when Ian Carmichael drove his bubble car into the lookalike Spielplatz in I'm All Right Jack in 1959. I am only aware of one actual closure in the last fifteen years, that of Charnwood Acres, and I can be corrected on whether it's the only one, but that was due I believe to leases and related stuff etc, rather than a mass public boycott because of the dress code. There has certainly been two sad closures of commercial sites, in Merryhill and South Hants but that was due to there not being naturist buyers. Shame. Especially with South Hants, as that was one UK venue that could bear comparison to naturist resorts abroad.

If 'some' naturist clubs are teetering on the brink of closure, and there is as yet no evidence that they are, it is due, or will be due to a restrictive admission policy that doesn't reflect modern society, and that which also may not allow casual visitors, (and the said club has a particularly agey demographic) but there is no evidence of expected nudity being the cause. Anyway, I was pleasantly surprised by the number of visitors to Spielplatz on a midweek day in April. Of all ages. Naked.

If people visit a naturist club, then they must expect at some point in fine weather that they are expected to be naked. It has been gone into before on here, but why can't I visit a textile venue and strip off?

I've been to the Naturist Foundation today, at weekends it's common to see people with visiting family there, many remain clothed and there is no problem with that. The only rule they have is you must be nude to use the pool.

Maybe just me, but if somebody endlessly visits and uses facilities, pool excepted, somewhere without regard to an ethos of equality in dress, I take it as a bit cheeky at least to be honest. I don' think you could get away with playing golf in a club without the correct footwear for instance.

Brigitte I agree in some regard to what you are saying, the reason I mentioned it was to give people a chance to see if it was for them. In regards to special events then I don't see a problem ie Jazz and Ale festival ad then if someone's partner is not naturist at least they can both enjoy a weekend away.
I do agree rocking up every week, week in week out without being a naturist is a bit well bad form to keep it polite lol. But to introduce people a few visits to a nice freindly family orientated club could be encouraging.
All clubs have seen a drop in membership recently and I don't think it is just the recession some go completely others go the way of Eureaka which to any true naturist is just as heartbreaking.
Do personally I feel clubs should be a little more relaxed as now are a lot of golf clubs towards new players to the game.

I'm glad that we agree that rocking up week in week out is a bit off in manners. It is difficult as we know if one partner is, one partner isn't, but life is difficult. Members of a club should have an equal regard and be asked if they are happy with perpetually textile visitors. I have been to three clubs where the nudity is total in good weather so I am not sure how I would feel if there was a relaxation in that. Special weekends like the Jazz and Ale are a separate thing and not typical of most weekends so there can be a leniency there, probably a good way to introduce people to the actual inside of a club and realise that we are at least halfway normal and don't have horns growing out of the head.
