My wife and I are both new to naturism, although I have been in situations when younger where I was naked with others (the odd skinny dip, mixed showers at Uni, that sort of thing). This year on a holiday to Cornwall we decided to visit a naturist beach whilst on holiday, a lot of research and web time identified where seemed to be a good place to go so off we went.
We arrived at the beach (CO) and were the only people on it besides one older chap who stripped off immediately. I decided to 'bite the bullet' and join him but Mrs S wasn't confident until there were others. We had put our stuff in the wrong place so after 30 minutes or so it was surrounded by families none of whom were naked. Being careful of the kids I decided to cover up when i returned to our towels etc.
We returned the following day and although it was colder and the sun was at best sporadic we found a place further along the beach and I stripped off immediately. We spent a long time walking around, getting in the water (briefly, it was very cold) and generally relaxing. After a few hours there were quite a few naturists on the beach although still in a minority, I would guess only 1 in 20 or so, when Mrs S suddenly just took her bikini bottoms off (she was already topless) and continued walking with me. She stayed like that for a couple of hours until it became just too cool to be comfortable and we decided to head back.
I knew that Mrs S wasn't as keen as me to try it so i was very proud of her for plucking up the courage...That was 1 month ago and I'm pleased to say that we are both keen to try again, we talk a lot about the experience and have been looking for somewhere that appeals to us.

That's a good start Sisco. Make the effort to do something similar again soon and neither of you will regret it.

Bit of a baptism of fire, but if you strip off on a British beach in the "summer", you're definitely a convert!

You are not a million miles from Telford Naturist Club.  I have only visited them once but I was impressed.  Could be worth a try for you.

Why not give it a try at the Naturist Corner Chatters' Meet?

You can come for the day if you don't have tent or van to stay in overnight.

Good plan John.

I had a similar experience (on my own) at Morfa Dyffryn, north Wales, earlier in the year, Sisco.  Having stepped over the line, you may well find yourself seriously seeking further opportunities to follow your instincts.

Good for you (both)

Do consider the Chatters Meet at Telford at the end of September.

Thanks for the encouraging comments guys... We will certainly look at these suggestions further, Telford looks good but I think Mrs S would prefer to travel to avoid the potential of meeting someone we know, at least at first.

John, unfortunately as a newbie I can't access the link you provided, can you tell me more about it please?

Swims are also good to try, and it doesn't matter what the weather is like. At least if you're at a naturist event and you see someone you know, you immediately have something in common 🙂

Sisco,
Mrs S could try Telford dressed until she feels comfortable, especially with cooler weather approaching she would not look out of place. If you met someone else you know would that be bad or reassuring that you share an interest. I have found shyness and embarrassment need to be put aside and just go for it or else you never get round to doing what you want

One thing to realise is that if you meet someone you know they will also be in a naturist location, If you ask them they will not say anything, after all what will they say when the people say what were you doing there. It happened to me at Abbey house gardens and  I met a friend of many years, if I had to list my friends who I thought were naturists he would have been in the bottom 5.
