I think I am in agreement with Brigette and Lee@Joyce, I would not want to always turn up at my club or a beach to always have the same folks to be clothed. I have a "textile wife " who I hope will one day come with me to a CO event or location, would I want her to undress, yes of course I would prefer it, but absolutely not of she did not want to (in fact even then I think I would prefer it if that happened the next time as the idea of putting pressure on her is so alien to me that I may even try and persuade her not to).
What I have found strange is, as an irregular visitor to my club (die to work and home life), is that there are a small number of members who I have not seen without clothes. But, yesterday one of then was making the most of the sun like the rest of us, and so what? I now feel guilty for even realising that I had realised who I had seen naked, as that is not what naturism is about to me. OK, so probably an meandering post, but I hope one that reflects my constant frustration at examining what I accept/agree with.

I think the policy at NF is a trial visit, and a second if you wish. You can then either join, or access via camping/caravan for the night, they don't do day visitors.

I've spoken to a few people doing a trial, mostly people trying naturism for the first time, and they've always been nude (and loved it). But then I'm only there if it's sunny, so some might wander about clothed.

I do agree that if a club has a day visitor policy and that person goes more than twice and does not join in, you have to start questioning their motives.

I agree about people going to try a naturist place and not taking there clothes off I think I would find it strange to see people in a naturist environment like that why go to it then, we went to a swim and it was nude or nothing and I thought a readingIit how are people ever going to try naturism with rules like that but now we think it should be that way as surely the people must want to try naturism and we find it funny to go into water with a costume or trunks on after all why put on something just to get it wet , wow we must have changed since we started in naturism lol

Getting newbies naked is a sensitive area. On the one hand, as has been said, they are at the club/event because they want to try naturism and, unless you have been brought up in that environment, it is hard to disrobe in front of other people.

They need the time to adjust.

On the other hand, they are at a nude event so therefore should be encouraged to disrobe as soon as possible (unless it is classed as a CO event). Perhaps the event organisers should provide a time frame by which the newbie should either get naked or decide it is not for them and leave?

With regard the couple where one is naturist and the other is not, I think it is only appropriate that the non-naturist at least gives it a try - perhaps half-nudity to begin with?

But whatever the scenario, there needs to be a rule.

At Spectrum we allow (that sounds a hard word) ladies to attend a couple of meeting with their cossie on. To date the offer has not been taken up - after all if you want to be noticed in a naturist environment keep a cossie on!!!

We need to tell newcomers that the best place to hide a tree is in a forest. The same actually applies in a club.

I thought the whole idea of visiting a naturist/nudist club was to experience
naturism, not to think of it as some country club where you kept your clothes on,there are already plenty of those.Personally i am not very comfortable being naked in an enviroment where other people are clothed. 🙂

Have a look at Western Swim in Chepstow - not far from Bristol, and a pleasant club. We have a 20 m pool, a sauna and a steam room. Check out the website for details - you might want to know that we had a lady here a couple of weeks back wearing bikini bottoms - no problem for anyone.

Give it a whirl!

Philip.

As half of one of the couples you refer to I must say I disagree with that 100%.  Why on earth should a non naturist spouse try it just because their other half is a naturist? Naturism is a personal choice and nobody should EVER be made to feel they should try it for any reason.

My wife isn't into it - that's her choice. It matter not to me and we've often been to C/O events so we can share the experience in our chosen way.  Perhaps if I wanted to join a sun club it would be an issue where a single man can't join but a) I have no interest in clubs and b) if their rules say I can't join without a naturist partner then I don't want to be part of it anyway.

Morning folks,  can I get back to the original post of 'family nude experience' please, as I have a question.  Having only just discovered the joy of being clothes-less and, not in public, yet, the thought of being naked around children scares me beyond belief.  Yes I used to have a bath with my kids when they were babies, but I refused to bath my daughter once she turned two.  So my question is this, are there hotels, clubs, or events which is adults only or has adult only areas?  I know I wouldn't be able to visit an event etc. if there are children present.  Your thoughts please?

Thanks.
Chris.

The reality is most events and swims are adult only, which is a pity as families bring fresh blood and future potential members. All clubs should have a Safeguarding Officer and policy. In practice apart from the pool area children choose whether or not to be naked. This is because they have rights and may be at the club, not under duress but as part of an agreed adult decision to attend.

I believe that children at a club are safe as the members will watch out for them. Yes there can always be an exception, but that is the case in any non-naturist environment and they are probably more at risk attending a public pool.

I hope we never get to such a state of paranoia that children are not welcomed into clubs and we are too fearful of the Safeguarding" mafia" I teach safeguarding and have seen that this subject can blinker sensible adults into taking bizarre actions that are more harmful to children than the perceived safeguarding danger. One example is putting two children into the boot of a car so that one adult would not remain with one child when leaving an event, there being insufficient room in the car. The answer was to have left two children with one adult and then returned. I have seen horrendous advice about leaving children upset and screaming on the floor at a toddler group whilst staff attempt to find Mum outside. If carers are too frightened to comfort an upset child in full view of other adults methinks they are in the wrong job.

Rant over

IMO we are far too obsessed with "protecting" children from natural experiences which adults fear through ignorance. Generally children are totally at ease with nudity because their minds have not been poisoned with sordid ideas about the naked body. In other European countries children partake in all family activities including visiting naturist venues. One thing that is so blatant on the Spanish naturist beaches is the number of families with children who are there enjoying healthy family naturism. Children run around playing in the playground without supervision, at the naturist campsite we go to for our nakations. Parents of the children know that their children would not come to any harm in the naturist environment. A couple of years ago a known paedophile who was being hinted by British authorities was spotted at the campsite soon after he arrived. His presence was reported to the Spanish police and he was arrested immediately.
Naturists are a minority group who value our lifestyle which we have to struggle constantly to uphold so we tend to be very protections of fellow naturists and especially children. Children are far safer in a naturist environment that they are in any other public venue.

I find this discussion very unsettling.
I do not see how we can maintain naturism as a family activity if children are banned  :-
In most places on the Continent naturism is definitely a three-generation thing, with parents flanked by children and by grand-parents, and events or places marked "adults only" are definitely not naturist, even when they advertise themselves as such.
