For those that have bought Hot Tubs; have you any advice on which ones are best and any good reliable suppliers?
We are thinking of getting one to use the surplus power from our solar panels next summer. There is already a dual 13amp outside socket near where we would want to put it.
Size wise, big enough for up to 4 people would suit us.
It is very hard to advise as to which hot tub to buy , there are so many makes . However , you say you have a 13 amp socket near by . Our hot tub can run on 13 amp supply , but that is it ," it runs " . You really need at least a 30 amp supply because with our hot tub , although it will run on a 13 amp , it won't heat as well , it draws too much power for 13 amps. It might not sound a big deal about not heating , but if you have been in there for quite a while , trust me it cools down !

It is very hard to describe the inner enjoyment of being naked .
My first piece of advice is try a wet test of tubs at your nearest decent supplier. 2nd, we have solar panels too but the strange thing is we enjoy the hot tub most in winter. I totally agree with Julie Dick about the power supply ours needs 32 amp and its only a 5 seater. 3rd consider access as you really don't want to crane it over the house unless you have to. Finally I would like to put you off inflatable ones not from personal experience but I know of a couple of people who had one first but soon went for a proper hot tub because of the limitations, one of them being our very own Shiraz a Mod on the chatroom here in NC and I'm sure she will be happy to chat about her tub too. Thats about it for now but if you need anything more please feel free to pm us.

Hi the wife and I have had our hot-tub (SPA) for many years and have enjoyed it so much, we have a nude only rule as clothes can make the water very soapy and dirty quickly and having to change the water after every spa was a pain. We love being in there winter and summer and are always nude in the backyard after we get out, very private yard. So enjoy your time in there its great thing to have. 🙂
Stay Nude Dudes. 🙂
My partner and I have had a hot tub since May and it was built in Canada is well insulated. We use it naked and all our naturist friends also. If anyone insists on wearing a costume then we insist they rinse it thoroughly in clean water before entering.
So far we have only changed water after 3 months.
Regarding the power supply ours is 20 amp as advised by the manufacturer.
We were advised not to buy a Chinese tub as they can be poor quality and possibly dangerous.
Nothing like sitting in the tub under a starlit sky.

We started off with an inflatable tub to see if we’d get the use out of one. It was a good one with water jets and air and if we’d just wanted it for the summer we would have happily stayed with it. However we love it so much we want one to use all year round so we traded it in for a proper one. Ours is designed to be 13 amp (plug and play). It depends how much you want to spend really but we wanted something well insulated to keep the heating costs down and it had to be a certain size for where we wanted to put it so we were a bit limited. We went to the local hot tub dealer, found something suitable and then went and read reviews online. Access is quite important, the guys who fitted ours had to take a fence panel down and bring it in through next doors garden because there wasn’t room through ours so make sure they do a survey before they come to install it. We’re very happy with it, it seems to retain the heat well and is plenty big enough for our requirements.

For about 5 years (at our old house) we had a hot tub and I loved it and used it regularly. I got it for two purposes, the first was for the relaxation of it but the second was to promote naturism for whoever came over. We even had a sign that read, "No Skinny Dipping...Until after 6:00pm" Of course I told my friends that we don't enforce the sign....we don't have to wait until 6:00pm. We got several friends to go skinny dipping with us. Then sadly we sold the house and the buyers negotiated the hot tub. Our current house needs some remodeling in order to get another one, so hopefully we'll get one in about 5 more years or so. Fun times.
Been a while since anyone posted on here but am keen to hear if there is any more advice (particularly from folks in the UK).
If the costs of renovating our 400 year old farmhouse don't keep spiralling out of control then there is a space earmarked in the back garden for a hot tub complete with rolling views over the hills.

Buy one anyway and skimp on the renovations. g<l

I'm with JOhn,
Buy one now, you need somewhere to relax after a long day renovating...
Have fun,
Ian.
It's never too late to have a happy childhood.
Been and had a look around the showroom of the local purveyor of hot tubs and as it stands at the moment the piggy bank would only stretch to a small(ish) 13amp model.
I think we are going to have to postpone the purchase and save up for a while longer to get a decent one!

We are having our hotub installed on the 11th of May we are having a wood fired one , as we have an access problem so have found a company who will build on site made of polyplastic and it will be fully insulated and will have a wooden surround full filtration and uv sterilised and will seat 6 to 8 .
It will heat up from cold in about 3 hrs it will be housed in a cabin with large double doors so should be perfect.
This will complement our sauna that is also wood fired can't wait.
