We were there in September and heard no mention of this. The areas in front of the hotel and beach cafes I wouldn't advise being naked but once you have passed the last of the lifeguard towers the beach was c.o with plenty of naturist about.

Just like Beekeeper,we have heard no mention of any closure.
However Menorca is usually very quiet,if not closed, to tourism of any kind at this time of year.So any news regarding closure would take a while to filter through.
Lets hope it is just a rumour. We have spent many good times there, and look forward to spending many more.

Not really sure how a naturist beach in spain can be closed as spanish law doesnt consider being naked illegal.

I have no information about the current position at Son Bou. However, in answer to the question "How could a naturist beach in Spain be closed?" I would point out that Barcelona has made local laws to ban nudity in the town. I'm quite certain that something similar could be done (at least in theory) anywhere else in Spain.

Having said that, the beach from Son Bou heading west is long and virtually inaccessible by road. The chance of anyone in authority patrolling it to enforce a ban is small at best.

Have fun,

Ian.

I have come across a sign once on the Spanish mainland that said that this particular beach had been given special dispensation to be non nudist. There was a map on the sign and was very specific in the area given this status. It was that long ago and I can't remember where it was. That's what gave me the thought that all Spanish beaches are at least C/O unless stated otherwise.
It's a pity we don't have this in the UK.

This document published by the Spanish naturist association in 2003 and still valid as far as I know may be of interest in this context.

I was on the beach at Playa Nueva on La Palma, which is  part of Spain, and the signs on the beach indicated, in symbols, that nakedness in the beach was not allowed. If I remember correctly it was a picture of a man and women with no swimwear on with a cross through them.
