And yet another French naturist resort that goes textile: Domaine Naturea (also known as Château de la Herpinière) in the Loire area near Saumur. They were very quiet on their website about their being naturist - you had to look up the "rules" to see that the resort was reserved for naturism, but nothing anywhere else: http://www.domainenaturea.com/indexen.html
Now they have announced on their Facebook page that they are going textile: https://www.facebook.com/Domaine-Natur%C3%A9a-264476893571351/timeline/
🙁

Sad to hear this news. However, I was somewhat puzzled by the name 'Domaine Naturea' and 'Château de la Herpinière'. I wasn't sure if I knew the location or not because the naturist site I'm familiar with is 'Le Bois de la Herpinière' (as listed in the 2015 World Site Directory of Naturist Holidays). But it does appear to be one and the same - the phone number matches!

It's a very long time since I last stayed there, perhaps 25+ years, but more recently I'd heard a couple of reports suggesting that standards had deteriorated significantly.

All a great shame. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit with a touring caravan.

You are quite right, sunchaser: Naturea is a recent (and, I think, silly) name for the site that used to be known as "Les Bois de la Herpinière". "Château de la Herpinière" is just the name of the building that houses the wine-making operations, and I believe the name under which they market their wines.

It is being confirmed that Regain will turn textile next year. What will happen to the people who had bought chalets when they were a naturist site, I do not know.

Oh dear, oh dear.  🙁

All these naturist places Sue and I have visited and that are now closing or turning textile makes me wonder if we have put a curse on them?  :-[

Thanks for letting us know Jacques, but I'm very sorry to hear the news.

Has the property sold, or is it the existing owners that believe they will have a better chance of selling if the site is textile?

Apparently the existing owners have been trying to sell since 2013 as a naturist resort, but with no luck. So this year they advertised the resort again, writing that it could be turned into a textile resort, and they now have someone who is apparenlty keen on buying and turning the place into a high class resort.
The problem was always going to be the occupants who had bought chalets at Regain - and they apparently continued selling chalets until quite recently.
The new potential owners do not wish to continue with privately owned chalets, but they seem to have nevertheless accepted that they exist and say that they will "honour existing contracts"; nevertheless chalet owners are afraid that they might easily be priced out of the grounds. The owners also demand that the naturist club on the ground should be disbanded - whereas, of course, the club members deny them the right to demand this as the club is not owned by whoever runs the resort.
Apparently passions are running high and all the parties in presence have put their solicitors to work.

It sounds like a very difficult situation for all concerned. And it is hard to see an equitable solution for the naturists who have chalets there.

As always, thank you for explaining the situation.

Best regards, Mike

Does anyone have information about the current status of Mas de Nadal former naturist site ?  Would love to buy it, or see it continue as a naturist site - the area and the walking are absolutely lovely.  Just need someone nicer than the previous owners to run it ....

Unfortunately, it turned textile under new ownership last year:
