We did three weeks in Croatia on our camper a couple of years ago and really loved the whole country and everything about it. The best sites for nude camping do seem to be on KRK or Istria (in our experience). We did both (Konobe on KRK and Solaris on Istria). Both sites were good and well maintained and I should imagine the same will apply to Banculuka.

However, while we cannot comment on Banculuka, and this is just a personal view, we felt that KRK as an island was not that great - a bit a barren and not too much to look at. As a result we did not really leave the site much on KRK - it had a good pool and was a nice layout - we were stocked up on provisions so we just lazed around with no need to dress which was nice, especially as we'd done all the Croatian coast on the way there from Dubrovnik. We moved onto Istria and thought it was nicer there (again - please note this is a personal opinion) albeit quite an Italian influence as opposed to Croatian. The towns here seemed a bit more vibrant to us, and again the campsite was very good.

We are hoping to go back to Croatia in our van again at the end of Aug/sept as we loved it and it is a great place to go for naturist camping. If you need any more info I can dive into Sue's diary and try and pick out some more details.

I don't have any personal experience to offer unfortunately on the Kvarner area aside from Rab which is just the beach albeit a superb one, in Kandarola, with no naturist site. So it is with interest I read the above. Coincidentally I have bought and watched an hour long souvenir dvd on ebay in dual German and English on the Kvarner islands Krk, Cres and Losinj with the eye of researching Losinj in particular. The bulk of the video is taken up with Krk, and while Krk Town itself looked attractive enough I cannot say I was enamoured of what I saw of the island enough to make me want to go there. The dvd mentioned naturism in passing, referring to Bunculuka if not by name but didn't show it. No doubt it is of excellent quality but the nearest settlement of Baska looked rather dispiriting, and a bit tacky, compared to the beauty and charm of other Croatian towns we have visited. Cres and Losinj looked more personable but again I wasn't bowled over enough by what I saw of them.

Reams has been written about Istria but you can be assured that it's the top destination in Croatia for naturists for a reason. Plus of course Rovinj is just spectacular, everybody needs to see it. Not very much in the way of campsites in the south sadly but I thought Camp Nudist on Hvar was one of the most charming places I have been if you get that far. A nice contrast to the all singing all dancing mega camps of Istria.

Thank you both Nudeforestcpl & Brigitte for your posts here and for the feedback and your opinions, its much appreciated. You both rather confirm our initial  thoughts having done some research into the area. We have about 10 days that we can spend in the area so we may just visit Krk for a night or 2 then move on further down the coast. It seems like we should make sure we have enough provisions to last and not rely too much on local shops and location. We intended to take the chance to spend some days totally relaxed and naked which would be a new experience as we normally just visit our club for a day then go home, so a holiday of this kind would give us the chance to experience living naked for a few days. However if we split our stays between 2 or 3 sites i'm sure we will still get that feeling. Thank you again for replying your info helps greatly 🙂

Hi again - as I say these were just our personal views so do please do your research as we all have different views on places. However, if you're planning to experience the benefits of naturist campsites which is remaining naked all the time and not leaving the site much/at all then I'm sure any of the Croatian naturist sites will be wonderful and the surrounding is less of an issue.

Again, just a personal view...but staying put at a site for a few days and not dressing at all is a truly wonderful experience - we usually find a few days where we do just that, we try to find sites with a bar so we can socialise naked and not need to leave the site.

Interestingly we found no naturist sites further East from KRK, apart from one on Hvar, which is a real shame as the coastal drive between Dubrovnik and KRK is just stunning, especially the Split-Zadar coast, some good campsites there but all textile.

Really looking forward to getting back there later this year, and hope your plans go well.

If you can reach the Island of Hvar, ferries from Split, or can drive over from Markaska side on small ferry journey connection. Then Brigitte, comments above on Camp Nudist are so true its a lovely relaxing location very special, its located near Vrboska, Jelsa lots of lovely bays, and a small island facing which is classified as naturist. You can hire a boat and potter off to some stunning bays just keep an eye out for the Seaplane landing/taking off!!.
On the other side of the Island the actual town of Hvar had the pakleni islands which were mainly naturist , one Jerolim being totally Naturist. Unfortunatly from mid June- to early September, the Ibiza crowd is going there spoiling the peace and being Textile!!!

I really appreciate all feedback and advice here, as this will be our first time to Croatia it is great to be forewarned of what to expect. As we have only a short time, probably 6 days in the Country it is important to head to the right area to meet our expectation so a big thank you for everyones help here. I will carry on with my research before we leave but may come back with some more questions. only 6 weeks to go! Can't wait

If you only have 6 days, I would opt for the epicentre for naturists, Istria. You won't regret it. Plus, inland Istria is as wonderful as the coast.

I have taken a look at the Istria region and it does look really good - we have found a couple of naturist sites, one family orientated the other seems to be more sedate so the latter maybe the right choice for us. Just one general question, we have been members of a UK sun club now for several years but do we need to be members of BN to access foreign sites?

I don't believe you have to be BN members if you are a couple. At Valalta it is only necessary for singles.
