slightly off topic.  I hold a H&S qualification.  The same thing that happened with H&S has got into Safeguarding.  Namely individuals apply their own interpretation rather than apply the actual rules.

Back to topic.  Agree with Shiraz except bring the children and make provision for them.  First I love to hear children playing, it is the sweetest sound.  Second if you ban children you also ban young families, result another club populated by crusty old farts.  (I qualify by age but not by outlook).  Important note: I DID NOT say ALL clubs are populated by crusty old farts.

Thanks but i think peoples requests were slighty endulgent, overheads need to be kept to the minimum as its such a short season

Just speaking for myself on one little break from trying to write a 3000 word essay for one module, before starting revision for the exam for another, worrying about parental health and doing a full time job. And apologies to some on here, one in particular who has messaged wondering where the bloody hell I am. The sun is out outside, the world is out there, fun is elsewhere, people are doing normal things and I am insanely worn down right now. Fun will come hopefully in a fortnight.

But...on the criteria for this place. I like unspoiled nature and especially now, more than ever with my entire life seemingly spent in front of a computer screen, that would be a wonderful novelty. I am not demanding in terms of luxury. I spent most of my formative years living in a caravan while touring, on all sorts of sites so I am totally indifferent to it. A hot shower in a block is great for me and to just do very little. I just like the sun to shine while I am camping. A bar is a bonus, but a shared fridge to cool wine would do. Costs are another consideration...some of us do not have money to burn.

Spielplatz in it's vintage clubhouse and blow up hot tub might be termed basic, but to me, it's the people that make the place, not the amenities. I found it enchanting.

In my previous work existence in stage entertainment that came to a shuddering unexpected halt in January I had a lot to do with children. The vast majority of them I preferred to adults, though I never had any much desire to have them myself. Most were miniature models of politeness, friendliness and rectitude, all the more remarkable, when you looked at a lot of adults accompanying them. Now, my work life consists of talking to a lot of ****ing grumpy old sods on the phone all day, so I would be utterly utterly delighted to go to a naturist place and find children, as I am fed up of adults right now. I do not miss some things about that career, but I do very much miss that level of job satisfaction I used to get, in making thousands of children over the years rather happy, and feeling rather rewarded in that, if not always materially.

Of course the above is based entirely on my own prejudices shaped by my own experiences.

Going back to our original post, the land is "woodland" therefore has stringent planning laws. Club houses, swimming pools, bars and restaurants would be a no. We want a place where nature and naturism can be enjoyed as one. An environmental utopia for like minded people, no caravans or tents just Eco buildings hidden amongst the wildlife.

Having been  club members for over 40 years we have obviously seen many changes take place. There used to be more children than adults, most members camped, we did have basic facilities but had to take drinking water to the site until we could afford to have a borehole. There was a cooker and washing up facilities in the cottage and a room with an open fire where members would get together
You had to queue up to get a game of miniten or volleyball it was so popular, all members were good friends and could be relied on for help both at the club or if in difficulty at home. just like a big family. If anything was needed , materials or labour, someone knew where they could find it either free or at knockdown cost. Running costs were minimal as we lived within out income.

How things have changed, The sound of children is only heard when we invite local people to visit the site every couple of years, we must have a modern up to date kitchen, social room, television, pool table, crystal clear swimming pool, hot tub, outside contractors do do some of the work, plans for a new posh toilet and shower block.

Club naturism has changed from a simple place where families could afford to and wanted to take their children, knowing them to be in a safe environment with a healthy attitude towards nudity to something approaching a posh exclusive country club with all the facilities and the accompanying costs, core membership, while still viable at a cost, has fallen to  a fraction of what it used to be when we had the embarrassing situation of having to refuse membership because with 70 families, the site was not large enough to take any more or park cars.

A change for the better ??

the advantage of caravans and tents is the site owner doesnt have the capital costs of accomodation buildings , or the constant cleaning and maintenance.  water and  drainage can be kept to a single building rather than having to get water pipes and sewerage to numerous buildings.
depends on availability of capital and whether the higher rentals from the increased capital investment in individual buildings is cost effective.
then theres staffing, you could run a woodland campsite by cleaning the toilets and collecting the fees but  running bars , changing sheets , cleaning accomodation means the overhead of employing staff.

personally i need somewhere level to park the van , the wife would like a toilet/ shower block with sinks to wash a few plates up.  and a bit of woodland/countyside to wander in,  im not too bothered if the wandering is on or off site aslong as its quiet without too many locals to startle.
