I found out about 30 years ago, just how liberated the Austrians are when it comes to nudity. They regard going around naked in their houses or in public as perfectly normal.

While visiting my parents for the first time, after they moved to Vienna in 1987, I was told in no uncertain terms, when I visited a sports club and wanted to go in the sauna area, that any clothing was strictly forbidden! If I wanted to use the facilities I would have to remove my swimming costume. So very gingerly I did. However, after about 15 minutes I felt fine about it. And was able to enjoy all similar facilities I visited in Vienna without feeling awkward or embarrassed. It was a 'Eureka' moment and I have never looked back. Coming back to England, nudity is not looked on so agreeably, and I know the Austrians view the British as very prudish. We can learn a thing or two from those living in Europe who have far more open and liberated way of life.

It's a free country, live life to the full!

I was recently had to leave the Nottingham Tennis Centre health suite, (sauna and steam) because I was covering up with a towel and not shorts.

LIFE is short, break the RULES. FORGIVE quickly, KISS slowly, LOVE truly, LAUGH uncontrollably, and NEVER REGRET anything that made you smile.

How very silly is that, for goodness sake!

I am stopping at the Sheraton in Salzburg next week. The way you describe Austria has cheered me up.

Stressed when dressed

We were in Vienna last September for.my wife's birthday and she said she wanted to spend the day at a spa. We went to the natural.spring spa.at baden nearby Vienna and after indulging in the hot outdoor springs, a massage we went into the sauna. I was a bit naughty in that I hadn't really told.me wife that it was a naked sauna though she entered into the spirit and striped off her swimming costume leaving only her swim hat so as not to frizz her hair! I really enjoyed the experience being so.liberated at not wearing swimsuit and people judging- I normally wear quit skimpy speedo style. The only concern for my wife was the extreme heat in one sauna which cause her jewellery to heat up. We often tell the story about this visit to friends and let them know that we have no.problem with nudity. I thoroughly enjoyed this experience and wish more spas in the UK were lime this

I tried naked walking in the mountains around Zell am see being careful to be ready to cover up in case someone came along. I needn't have worried though as the first people i came across were two middle aged women strolling naked except for walking boots up the mountain towards me. We stopped and spoke before going our own routes, really was a nice experience. Am going back in two weeks time for a late break so unless the weather changes i am looking forward to being able to do the same again. Regardless of the naturist attitude Austria is a fantastic place to visit any time of the year

Totally get what your saying about Austria. As for Wien, love the area on the island in the river that's dedicated to FKK.

Best freedom around
