Hi all,
As new to naturism, apart from around the house and garden, we are looking at going to the CHM Montavilet this summer, early July for out first taste of a naturist holiday.  We would be interested to hear/read any comments that you have of the venue.  It seems to have it all, we will be going and staying in our motorhome.
Thanks in advance.

We stayed there many years when we had a trailer-tent and found it thoroughly enjoyable.
The downside is the fact that, being on the bay of Biscay, you do get Atlantic weather - but a lot warmer than the UK.
You can be naked 24/7 if you wish anywhere on site but you may find that you are the only nudes in the restaurant of an evening as the French tend to dress for dinner.
equally, you will not feel out of place if you are dressed during the daytime, if you feel the need. The only thing that seems to be totally out of bounds is swimwear - except for bikini bottoms for ladies at the appropriate time of month.
Those seem to be the unwritten rules of the place.

I'm sure you will enjoy your stay there - and do walk into the adjacent seaside town with it's cafés, restaurants, seaside shops and daily market.
The market includes a proper french food market, local artisans' and vignerons' stalls and a varied collection of typical French tourist tat - all very fascinating.

Hi Dabs,

Ive stayed at CHM and Euronat admittedly many years ago, both were wonderful. If you are staying at one you get free entry to the other. I prefer Euronat so spent more time there. But as i say long time ago and things do change.

Have fun.

Well, here we are! We arrived at CHM Montavilet at lunch time yesterday.  Very friendly reception staff who could not have been more helpful.  We parked up the motorhome and I tended to the necessary aspects of this, stepped inside to find my wife already naked and preparing food and a welcome drink 😊
Since we arrived, apart from a short trip on the bike to a local supermarket for provisions, we have been naked all the time. And what a wonderful experience it is especially when there is a light breeze. We are loving it and already thinking of extending our stay by a couple of days.
So if any of you still have to make the step, give it a go, you won't regret it
Will let you know how things go!

By the way: it's Montalivet, not Montavilet 🙂

At least a simple typo on the name does not lead to confusion.
At Euronat this year I went to the aperitif reception organised for visiting Brits by the British property owners at Euronat.
It took me several minutes to recognise that they were talking about Montalivet because of their mispronunciation of the name - and these were people who had spent every summer there for the last 20 years.

Luckily there is no place in France named Montavilet, so that there is no chance that a similar typo when setting the SatNav might take you hundreds of miles off course 😉
In another thread on NC the place name is spelled Motalivet, with the "n" missing, erasing the original meaning ("Mont" = a mount) - probably the "Montalivet curse" striking again 🙂
In any case, these typos will make it difficult to find those threads for future reference using the NC "Search" function.
