Well Devman and John you may be right, but I can draw a comparison between the 2 sites as they are both charging similar rates. The one good thing about the TNC is that one does not have to participate in the extra facilities and there was no security guard walking round with a guard dog at his heels. Ed

We have just returned from a trip to Pembrokeshire, and spent two periods of three nights at Tything barn. The second period which ended last Thursday I would say has been our best UK naturist experience yet. The weather was glorious, and the site was so relaxing. From the lagoons to evening walks down by the river. The spring tide was in flood in the evenings, and the transformation from muddy winding creeks to a vast lake in a matter of minuets was incredible. The view accros the river to the broad leaf wood on the opposite bank is spectacular.
Oh and as for the security guard thing, I think I have worked that one out. That would have been Jo's other half ( sorry forgotten your name) taking  the pet Alsatian for an evening walk.
Tything barn is nearly a five hour drive for us, but it is already on next years list.

Re horse flies, collect some Teasel water from the Teasel plants and dab it on the bites.

The horse files of TB are really bad. I used to flick them off, but now I splat them.
I'm looking to go down to TB again soon. 🙂

On our lat trip to Ththing Barn I was bitten on the backside by a horse fly when we were putting up our awning. A few moments later I felt one on my face. I whipped my hand up to brush it off, caught my finger in the awning and dislocated it. My o so sympathetic wife said "only you could do a thing like that".

Can anyone confirm the situation at Turning, as their website is 'up' but all the pages blank ?

Maybe turning barn is a new naturist campsite we could just call it a barn find  ;D. On the other hand if it is tything barn we are talking about we don t want to be taking the wrong turning .... ;D.

Just had a look at the link to the new website.  Oh dear, I forsee the end of Tything Barn.
Jo and Mike had put a lot of work into the place, and had the energy to keep it up.
I think any new tenants will have their hands tied, by the owners, who it seems to me want to still have control over the running of the place even though they have leased the business.

We're going to W Wales in the next few weeks in our camper van and thought about going to Tything for the first time but I have to say the website is less than inspiring.

On another post someone says a 'young' couple are taking it over but there seems to be two couples named at one point, either way it would be good to know more about the site, showers, toilets, washing-up, any shop, drinks, bar or anything... As naturists we tend to accept things that are a bit 'shabby' or otherwise termed 'work-in-progress' by the owners in pursuit of our naked enjoyment, but we do also like to be given a better idea of what to expect - just visit any of the french naturist campsite webpages to see.

Hi - when I checked the web site a couple of days ago there was some confusion over the correct web site address.

If you want Tything Barn then the web site is http://www.tything-barn.co.uk and please take extra care to include the hyphen in the name. This is a lovely well established site that includes showers, washing areas, and other facilities. I have never actually stayed there (just did a day trip to run in the 5k) so hopefully others will be able to add more detail.

If you use the web link http://www.tythingbarn.co.uk this is the old link which now redirects to "Dolcoed" (or at least it did a couple of days ago). Dolcoed is a new site run by Mike and Jo and this is in a "state of development" so nobody can actually say how good it will be! Mike and Jo previously ran Tything Barn - and there is probably an "interesting" story to be told. One has to presume that the "tythingbarn.co.uk" domain was registered by Mike and Jo so they took it with them when they left. This left the original Tything Barn site with the problem that they no longer had a web site and had to develop one from scratch.

Mike and Jo were at Tything Barn for a long time and did a good job. Tything Barn should still be good. We can presume (or hope) that Mike and Jo will achieve similar good things with Dolcoed so one day it will be good!

The Tything barn that I presume we are talking about,  the one near Carew, The only Tything barn, is a lovely site. It hasn't a bar, or a club house, or a shop. It has adequate facilities, but the main attraction of this site is it's setting, it is set in the Carew river, and the Lagoons are ideal for sun bathing and swimming. The site is also big enough to enjoy a naked walk.
Now the possible downside. As has been mentioned , Jo and Mike the former lease holders have moved on to Doicoed, and for a while I understand  the owners of  took on the day to day running of the site. They are an elderly couple, they are lovely people but I shoud imagine that a site the size of Tything Barn would be a lot to manage.
I understand that a new couple have, or are about to take over the management. If that is the case then I wish them well.
Talking with Jo last year I had the impression that she and Mike were becoming increasingly frustrated with the interference of the owners because of their reluctance to ' let go.' This resulted in Jo and Mike being unable to develop the business going forward.
My advice to you is visit Tything Barn,  we are hoping to get back this year, and just wait and see how things pan out.
