Playa de Cantarrijan near Almunecar, Andalucia - has anyone been there? Apparently its a well known naturist beach and we particularly like the sound of La Barraca restaurant, but drove backwards and forwards along the N340 last year and couldn't find the beach at all. We found another naturist beach and a good restaurant on the seafront in Almunecar, so it didn't matter, but we'll have another try this year as we'll be only an hour or so inland when we're staying near Lanjaron in June. Any directions gratefully received 😀 John.

The first one shows a large car park beside the N340, between Nerja and Almunecar. From the car park there is a longish track down to the beach and restaurant.

Most naturists hang out on the section of beach away from the restaurant, which is only a minutes' walk away.
The track down to the beach is unsurfaced but driveable with care. HOWEVER, in peak season (at least) it is closed to cars and there is a minibus that ferries folk down from the top car park by the N340 (which may be why it is so busy in the Google streetview image). It's a few years since we were last there, so I don't know the dates when you can drive, and when the minibus is provided - at a small charge. You are obviously free to walk up and down if you choose, but it's quite a big climb back in the hot sun...

Sunchaser - thanks for the links. They are a big help. We obviously didn't drive far enough west from Almunecar last year. The trouble last year was that we didn't have wifi (wiffy as the Spanish endearingly call it) where we were staying (Cortijo Beni in Orgiva) and didn't think to take our tablet or ipad on the odd occasion when we went to a restaurant, so we only had the satnav or a motoring atlas, neither of which were any help.
I checked and the road is only closed to cars in July and August - we're there in June so should be ok to drive down to the beach. The walk might not be a bad thing either if La Barraca lives up to its reputation 😀

I love this beach. We 're heading to Nerja from 3rd June for a week so gonna be sunning here for the week! woop woop
We drove down last week from our mountain hideaway near Lanjaron and found it, but wished we hadn't bothered. Its all stones rather than sand, with the first (very cramped) section crowded with sunbeds and umbrellas, mostly occupied by textiles. Further up around a couple of headlands are a couple of less populated areas but those too were very small and very stony and liberally scattered with cigarette ends. Not to our liking at all. We decided to have a coffee in the bar before catching the bus back - cars are banned after June 15th - and were somewhat shocked by the price! And at least the surly waiter might have smiled while ripping us off! All in all not a pleasant experience - we'll stick to Calblanque in future when in Spain. Its in a different league!
