Hi all,
I was fortunate enough to be in the eastney area of hampshire. I took a wander down to the beach only to find a large double sign suggesting that the beach is physically closed to the public for 2017 april to october. There were also two or three coastguard boats on exercise training. I read it a few times just to make sure im not mis reading it. Its very sad as we went down quite a few times last year.

If anyone can shine any more light on the subject that would be great. Any alternatives nearby?

Hi....not sure if this is connected, but this is wgat I found online:

http://www.portsmouth.co.uk/news/anger-as-beach-is-closed-off-in-row-over-flats-scheme-1-1252357

Albeit, this report was several years ago, it's possible the dispute is still ongoing?

Hope it helps!
Donna

First I've heard of it.  Have they closed the whole beach, or just the end by the sea wall?

I think the sign was put there very recently. There is not an actual barrier yet... However the coastguard were doing training exercise there yesterday. There must have been three boats and about 30 coast guards on the beach. I could be wrong but was not comfortable stripping off given the circumstances. Anybody with better local knowledge would be great

Upon reading this thread, it was my intension to pop down and have a look for myself, after a look on google maps and my own local knowledge I had surmised that the closure would be further round the point towards the ferry more. So when at the weekend my friends popped down to Eastney, seeing that it was nice weather and all, and upon hearing they where there I asked them to investigate the story... the upshot is my theory is so far correct and that the nudist beach should be unaffected.
I will confirm this myself in due course fully and get some pics unless someone else bets me to it lol 🙂

Ok, reccy completed and yes Eastney Naturist Beach is open for business as usual. It is the beach around the corner to the North-East of EB that is affected by the closure.

So see you all there one day over the summer.

We were on the beach yesterday, it was lovely, no hint of access being denied, just a lot of nude bodies taking in the sun
