I did give it some thought, but the 300 mile round road trip in light of predictions of freezing weather put me off.

A glass of red wine in front of telly in warm house won the day.

I will make it down again sometime soon when the weather is a bit more predictable!

It was SO good to get back to The Arlington on Sunday. Lovely to finally meet you both too, Brian and Dave. Thanks again, Dave, for the lift back. It really made a big difference getting home almost an hour earlier than expected 🙂

Everyone was very friendly and welcoming again - I remembered quite a few people and met quite a few new people too! It was very busy too, which is great for the organisers, and encouraging for all of us to know how many like minded people there are out there!

I’m looking forward to the next time, although I’m not sure when that will be - March weekends are looking quite busy at the moment!

DaveMc - I guess you really do have to plan ahead, coming from Aberdeen. I spoke to a couple who were staying over at the Easy Hotel, which is something like £10-£20 a night. Would that be a possibility for you?

Planning ahead isn't really an issue, last time I planned ahead I did have a room booked in a nearby hotel but that turned out to be the night when the M90 road was closed due to snow!  I had thought of going down last Sunday but didn't have anything booked at the forecast again wasn't great so decided against it.  It'll not be so bad once the weather improves - I certainly do want to visit again and meet up.

Previously on the string, Kevin mentioned a forthcoming event in Edinburgh. It was an exhibition of prints by Amelia Allen from her recently published book Naked Britain at Gallery Close in Edinburgh. Amelia will be hosting a clothing optional viewing at the gallery on Saturday 3 March 2018 between 2 - 4 pm.

Please note that Amelia Allen will be on the Janice Forsyth Show today (Edi Stark is standing in) from 2 - 4 pm on BBC Radio Scotland.

DaveMc, another swim that might interest you is the Sunnybroom swim in Aberdeen that starts again this coming Saturday at the Bridge of Don swimming pool. It’s a bit easier for us north easterners to get to.

Not a problem Jane, as I said it’s not as if it’s miles out of my way and it’s always nice to help out a fellow NC’r👍🏻😁
I think that might be my last time at Arlington for a while due to work, but I’ll keep my fingers crossed 🤞🏻

Not sure when I'll next be at the Arlington swim. Mother's Day on the 11th of March, so best spending the day with mum. Then I'm getting an ear biopsy the next day, so depending on the outcome of that, may not be doing much skinny swimming until it heals!  :-

Dave - Whilst I fully intend to explore Sunnybroom itself once the weather improves & it is open for business, I didn't think an hour at Bridge of Don pool sounded particularly great.  I suspect it's just another Council pool with nothing much else going for it.  Doesn't really stack up against Arlington does it?

Before they went to Bridge of Don, Sunnybroom held their sessions at Hazlehead Pool. I went to one session there but it was not very inspiring.  Basically, you had access to the pool and that was all.

I was able to go because I was working in Aberdeen and I plan to attend Bridge of Don if the session coincides with my next working visit.  However, my main aim is to get along to the Arlington as its sound amazing from posts made by others.

we used to go to hazlehead pool when members of sunnybroom a good few years back. as victor says it was only a pool which is why Arlington is so much more inviting

Hi Dave, it’s TWO hours of splashing about in a council pool! 😂
But on the bright side it is a naturist swim and it’s an opportunity to meet and socialise with fellow NE naturists without the hassle of the journey to Glasgow but you are right in saying that compared to Arlington it simply doesn’t have the same level of facilities, but where else in the NE does?
It’s a friendly group that attend and a good way to meet up with existing  members of Sunnybroom.
As the old saying goes; use it or lose it

Dave, I stand corrected and I apologise, you were correct it is only one hour at the Sunnybroom swim, I'm not sure why I had it in my head that it was two hours. The onset of old age? I hope not, I'm still in my 40's! LOL

I did not make the book signing event of Amelia Allen's Naked Britain in Gallery Close, Edinburgh on Saturday 3 March because the weather on the Isle of Arran prevented me from returning in time.  I emailed Amelia to say that I wouldn't be able to attend and she replied as follows;

"I can't get there because all the trains and buses and flights to Edinburgh are cancelled again today. The show will still be going ahead but we might try and arrange another event where I can be there and do a book signing".

So we need to keep our eyes open for details of when another event is held.

Afternoon all. A bit last minute but after a change of plans it looks like we are going to Arlington tonight, first time in 6 months. Anyone else going along? I know it's Easter Sunday and you are all probably busy, but I thought I'd ask, you never know.

Enjoy your visit. I've been ill all week and won't make it. Ishbel may be there. Take your gym kit if you fancy using the gym. There will be a member of staff on hand to help people build up their confidence. Will make sure I'm there next week for the tai chi though!
