I come from a semi naturist family (my mum, who was French, usually sunbathed nude when she could), I remember running around naked in the garden or on the beach in Sandgate(where I grew up) up until the age of 6 or 7. My mum then had major surgery which left her scarred so her naturism was confined to the privacy of the garden after that and as I was more interested in playing with my mates I drifted away from naturism. Puberty then intervened so even though it was the 1960s I can’t remember any conscious naturist activity until I shacked up with a rather bohemian girl at around the age of 20. Her parents had a holiday home in Sussex overlooking Ferring beach and as the garden was very private nudity was the order of the day!
My first wife was not really into naturism though she would occasionally go nude in the dunes of Berrow beach in  Somerset (we moved to the West Country in the mid 70s), if there was no one nearby. Following the break up of that marriage in the early 80s I got together with the girl who has now been the love of my life for 35 years!! She had always sunbathed topless and had once gone skinny dipping in her student days, so the transition to naturism for her was quite easy. It was while on a picnic on the beach at Wick Bay in South Wales, being an August bank holiday there were quite a few people on the beach, all naked, so when I removed my trunks she simply sighed and removed her bikini bottom!! She has hardly ever worn anything on a beach since unless we have been on a clothed beach with non naturist friends.
I suppose I have been unusually lucky in my choice of partners, I have never found myself being frustrated by having to compromise to suit another person’s inhibitions.
