So the weather is good again this weekend. I'm thinking of trying st osyth again. Just wondered if anyone else is going?
I would if I wasn't working this weekend. I hope you enjoy it though. I'm very jealous!
Hi Sarah. I've been a couple of times last year. I'm thinking of going in Tuesday as off work. My girlfriend doesn't like being clothes free so I tend to go alone. It's okay down there, marshy and a shingle beach, like others said, you might have to ignore "meerkats" and the rest. The Naturist Foundation is nice too, they have a heated indoor pool. I may go next weekend for their naked 5k, normally attracts about 100 people.

Is that the one in Clacton? Hey
No a bit from Clacton. If walk south from Clacton to Jaywick and keep going you will come to St Osyth beach. Keep going some more and you will come to the Naturist Beach

Shame I didn't see your message.. we were down there Saturday, athought quite late in the day by the time we got there there and there was hardly anyone else around. Littlun still had fun though beachcombing (one of the advantages of an otherwise not so nice beach).
I remember my first time going to Studland beach... I walked miles away from people for ages before finally getting the courage to be near others.. but all that trepidation and nerves melts away once you realise that no-one bats an eyelid and very quickly it becomes just another day at the beach (just without all the baggage of wet and cold swimming gear). 🙂
If you wanted to experience an amazing beach and you ever get a chance I wholeheartedly recommend Studland.. miles and miles of beautiful beach and shallow sea.
Another vote for Studland here!
Hi Sarah, not sure if you’ve managed the trip to the beach yet?
I went there a couple of times, but that was a good few years ago. You could even drive to the naturist section then. It has an iffy reputation at our club, but as I haven’t been for ages I can’t confirm or deny,,but no smoke without fire.
If it’s relaxed naturist experience you’re after, come to Springwood near Colchester (other clubs are available lol), nice outdoor pool, big sun lawns, Miniten courts, 3 different pétanque surfaces and 8 pistes, and if you pick the right day archery too. Checkout tripadvisor and/or the club website.
We also visited Arcadians recently, near Billericay, nice place, not as active as Springwood. Naturist foundation is huge, lots going on, we’ve been a couple of times for Party in the stark, Dartford crossing is a bit naff though.
Might see you soon?
Garry

I've been to St Osyth's a couple of times. It's a bit of a run down looking area, both the place itself which feels like it's living in the 70s and the beach. From what I can tell the start of the nudist bit is absolutely fine with a few couples and singles mixing well. I went for a stroll as I'm rubbish at just sitting still, and found the furthest end a bit more seedy with many erections on display. However it didn't seem like these people were strolling back and forth - they just kept to that end so the start of the beach still felt quite natural.
I think the main complaint I'd have is it just didn't feel very clean and not really good for swimming either. Many better beaches on the east coast IMO, but I'd welcome more pointers for places to go.
We live about 25 miles away from Clacton, and that's our nearest coastal area, so St Osyth’s is not far away. Obviously we’ve been down to St Osyth’s one or two times to have a look around, but we’ve never stripped off, or stayed long.
Louise hates the place. She thinks it’s dirty, grotty and full of weird drug taking undesirables, and I must admit I didn't feel that comfortable down there either.
With today’s relaxation in nudity laws we don't really bother to hunt out naturist beaches, in fact we never really used naturist beaches before to the change in the law.
As long as you are sensible and discreet you shouldn't have any problems, we haven’t, and we’ve stripped off on loads of non naturists beaches around the country.
Obviously we wouldn't be stripping off on a crowded beach, so we tend to go to the quieter end, and because we’re retired we have the luxury of going mid week when it’s not so busy.
