My wife and I are planning a week's holiday in Tenerife in the new year. It's a family (textile) holiday, but I am planning to hire a bike and escape on my own on a couple of days. This may involve a visit to a naturist beach, but ideally I would like to try some nude hiking. Has anybody any experience of this on the island and/or able to recommend an area? Somewhere on or close to the west coast would be ideal.

we stayed in Los Cristianos a couple of years back and I spent a lot of time hiking on mount Guaza. A steady walk up from the beach at the far end of Critianos takes you to a very flat part of the hill where you can walk for miles or you can walk uphill and over the top. I would walk naked up the first part with shorts to hand then would hide my shorts at the top of the first part and spend the rest of the time walking naked without the hinderance of having to carry shorts. There were one or two regulars who would run to the top and back down again. Never had any problems being naked some  walkers would top and chat others just say hi others ignore you ,just the same as hiking while clothed.    When I said I hid my shorts I always hide a pair of swim briefs in a different location as a back up.

Not a major walk as such but I have walked naked from La Caleta to Playa Diego Hernandez naturist beach and back (about 2km each way). I undress (and redress on return) at the point where the footpath goes down to Hippy Valley and you get out of sight of the appartments in La Caleta. I have never found a problem with anyone I encounter probably because they know it is the main route to a naturist beach. I have even been able to persuade my wife to join me for part of the return walk naked.

Walking along the naturist  beach at las tejitas from Montana Roja towards Los Abrigos and back is a good distance.

Thanks for the advice. Will try to put it into practice when we go to Tenerife in February.

Sorry if this topic has slipped off the radar a bit.  Hoping I can bring a new angle to the thread.
Over the last few years, have spent several winter / spring holidays in Tenerife, staying in Costa Adeje (S coast) a few times.
Worth hiring a car (taxis too expensive, buses too infrequent) to get up into the hills about half way to the rim of Mt Teide to hike.  Key places to park are Ifonche and Vilaflor off the TF51 north from Los Cristianos via the TF28.
From Ifonche (1000m altitude) there are naturist friendly walks to the West towards Adeje and to the North East towards Vilaflor.
From Vilaflor (1500m alt) (or off-road parking on the Z-bends above) there are fabulous walks into the Lunar Landscape (1800m altitude) to the North East.
Naturists seem to have a bit of a fixation with beaches and the coast, but these mid-level walks through scattered pines, with breathtaking views down to the ocean just must be tried.
You may meet a few other walkers, but this should not be an issue.
I would not recommend walking on the high level "Canadas" inside the main volcanic rim at 2000 metres altitude - air is very thin, sun (UV) is very intense, air is very cold, tourists are very numerous.
If you'd like any further detail / advice, just post you question and I'll try to help.

Thanks, John.Kendrick. We went to Tenerife in February and I did manage a small amount of walking in the mountains, although not the exact locations you mentioned.

Instead I found swathes of forest that were seemingly devoid of people (especially in February), so there was little fear of meeting other walkers. And even if I had encountered anyone, I felt much more confident about being able to shrug it off, because it felt right, and it is perfectly legal in Spain.

I agree with your point about many naturists being fixated with beaches. Nude walking is far more enjoyable than just hanging around a beach, and I thoroughly recommend it.

One word of warning: I got to the location by cycling, and while I was calling them 'hills' before I set off, during and afterwards they were definitely 'mountains'!

I guess that’s why the Sky cycling team are based there.
