What is wrong with someone asking you if you want to do things, that is the way that people find out who are like minded. I am a straight married guy and I walk naked a lot, I am often asked by homosexuals if I would like this or that sexual act. I just smile and say I am flattered but I am married to a woman so no thank you. But, I have also said on many occasions I have no objection to you walking with me if you want to chat. so long as you do not ask me again. On numerous occasions I have been accompanied for several miles and had some very interesting conversations with intelligent friendly people. If you don't give people a chance you never get the opportunity to understand them.

I think we've only had a male response so far to that comment. It'd be interesting to get a female reaction, because to be honest, I think it's tricky to tell them they should be flattered by uninvited sexual advances from strangers. There's plenty around in the media these days that can explain why that is, and how often the word 'no' isn't enough to rebuff an advance.

That's not to pounce on the remark, generally I agree with Gildo's open-mindedness here, but it is very different for women. My partner refuses to go to Studland again because she feels being on holiday should probably be one of those times in the year she isn't being sexually objectified by men.
This is all to do with a widespread discrimination and prejudice we chaps don't have to deal with on a day-to-day basis. It's a problem many women face at work, on public transport, in their leisure activities, etc, and one that given the addition of nudity only gets magnified on that beach, so I think it's only fair to respect how uncomfortable a place like Studland can make women feel. They put up with that crap far too much in our general culture, why go to a place where it's practically inevitable?

Frankly, I'm sometimes amazed any women go there at all. Bravo for them for tolerating what goes on.

You probably don't get out and about naked as much as me or you would know it does not just affect women. I am regularly propositioned mainly by men while I am out walking naked. This happens in the countryside and on beaches used by naturists, in this country and abroad. In Spain you get stretches of beaches used by naturists where there is a section mainly comprising guys. When I walk past these areas it is not uncommon to be treated in the same way (including at times men masturbating when they see me) that you have said women are treated. I have no idea how this all affects other people but all I can say as a straight married guy I have come to realise that this behaviour is often a very clumsy way of trying to find like minded people. I have encountered this kind of behaviour for many years and in all that time I have never come to any harm and I discovered some time ago that if I talk to these people and tell them that I am not interested and therefore it is not acceptable, most apologise and leave me alone and the rest just leave me alone. I can also add when I have talked to some of these people I have found them to be willing to walk with me a talk with me on condition that they realise I do not want to be involved in any sort of sexual activity. As a consequence I have had some very enlightening conversations and found some of these guys are just very confused as to what they have been doing and the outcomes they are looking for. For the most part they do not realise how they make other people feel and they are trying to find like minded people. The response that these people usually get from me these days is I am flattered, but I prefer women and I don't think my wife would be too happy. Don't get me wrong though, there are some people out there who do what they do because they feel that they can exert their power over women and they get off on a power trip, to challenge their actions is to disarm them so, they should always be challenged by someone with the confidence to do it. I know that is easier said than done but I always do it no matter how big the guy is, they usually become very small when challenged.

We have generally found accessing Studland naturist area from the National Trust Knoll Beach car park works best.

Walking along the water's edge until the sign indicating the nude zone, then a further 20-50 yards past it, there is a pretty comfortable environment.

Yes there are occasionally annoying pests even there, but not very often in our experience. Nearly all couples and families. But, by and large, we do stay out of the dunes.

On a slightly different direction of conversation,whilst visiting Studland where can  we camp with our motor home whilst there for a night or two, we aren't N.T. members, as i heard  some can camp in their car park which we might consider if cost effective for the future.

I'm not aware the Trust allow vans to stay overnight in the car park at Knoll Beach - it would be very handy if they did. Certainly worth investigating.

Knitson Farm a couple of miles away had a naturist camping field for many years, which we frequently used to stay at - but, unfortunately, it was stopped a while back.

We haven't stayed with them since the early 80s, when we were in a tent.

Be aware the local access roads are very narrow and will require considerable care driving a motorhome.

the one by the ferry tends to be left open but staying overnight is discouraged [& banned these days on the road]

We've just had a beautiful day on the beach, but like this thread’s initial comment it tainted by fully clothed men circling where we lay in the dunes. Were planning on going again today and decided that im not going to take the behaviour lightly this time. I plan to video them and then infoem them that im upload this to a site where pests are reported.
Does anyone know of such a site whre these details can be sent?
BTW, i am aware that you can report them to the National Trust but i prefer direct action sometimes.

If I was able to go I would just stay on the main beach with other naturists in view. Textiles may pass but I would sooner put up with that than being a specific object of interest. The simple answer is that we didn’t bring a windbreak (and we weee on the first set of dunes off the beach)

I don't think anyone who chooses to lay in the dunes should do so with any expectation that they will be 'targeted'. We often retreat into the dunes to get out of the breeze on the main beach. I don't think because of the actions of a few idiots, and it is a few, people should feel they shouldn't, or can't, spend their time at Studland in the dunes. The dunes are very peaceful and the Heath is stunning. We have met lots of really nice people who spend their days strolling about the dunes and Heath with no other expectations than to meet new people and chat.

We actually returned today (morning) and it was totally deserted mainly due to the strong winds and were able to enjoy a relaxing time until about 1pm went it clouded over. That said it was bloody cold walking back to the upper car park.

On another subject, on leaving the clothes free zone, the sign of course reminds everyone that they need to be clothed. It stated that Naturist should be dressed ans my wife commented that we always talked about the nudist zone but she quite like being considered a naturist rather than a nudist. An expression of one being with nature rather than one removing items of clothing. It made her feel more positive about herself she said. Maybe one day we may take the plunge and let friend know  🙂

I don’t know if others are aware but cross the Sandbanks/Shell bay ferry costs £4.50 but you can buy a book of 10 tickets at the payment point for £35. i.e. a return trip is £7 rather than £9. Add to that free parking if you’re a member of the Nation Trust the cost of visiting for my wife and I last weekend was must lower than our historic trips.

We had all my childhood summer holidays at Swanage. Occasionally we would go over to Studland and sometimes we'd see people further along the beach with no clothes on. Shock horror in the 1950s and early 60s!

Fast forward to the 1980s and the years since and we've became 'those people with no clothes on'. Studland is a very beautiful beach and being a naturist makes it better still.

I love Studland nudist beach. By far the most beautiful nudist beach I’ve been to in the UK. Generally really relaxed and genuine nudists/naturists there. However there are some obvious exhibitionists and non-nudists on the dunes overlooking the beach. I also didn’t realise at first that the right side of the entrance if your back is to the sea was the gay side. Even though I was with my partner (female) I felt so much more at ease and free on the family side of the beach.

There were naked people, couples, families as far as they eye could see. And all set on golden sands. Absolute perfection. Would highly recommend.

Another 'Studland Bay' starter. I've always loved the entire Dorset coast, and I'd been to Studland several times, envying the self-confidence of 'all those people in the nude'.

Then one day - why not?  Truth be told, we were a little bit terrified and managed to take our clothes whilst lying down at the back of the beach - I doubt any-one else would have seen 'anything' even if they'd be interested.

Years later, I'm so relaxed about it that the shorts are off almost as soon as we pass the blue warning sign!
