Has anyone been to Budleigh beach in the past year? I heard on the grapevine that storms in 2016 have completely washed away the shingle beach and caused cliff falls at the western end of the beach which is where the naturist section is. Apparently there is only a few yards of beach left for naturists and that is now only rock, not shingle.
We were thinking of going down there in the next few weeks but if the rumours are true then we shall have to go further down the coast to Slapton which adds 45 minutes at least to the journey.
I haven't heard that rumour, but Shaldon beach a few miles down the coast was stripped of a lot of sand during the storms, but is recovering well. I know the beach at Budliegh is made up of far heavier stones but it may have started to recover.
"Try to live a good life. Don't be afraid to be what you are'. some bloke in the pub.
It was fine last time I was there. I live 10 minutes drive away!
Weston Mouth nearby is a nicer place to go though in our opinion. But a walk puts some people off.
That’s good news! We used to go to Weston Mouth occasionaly but while the walk down is ok, the walk back up is a killer, especially if you have a knee issue like me!
I was at Budleigh Salterton beach on Monday 21st May 2018 along with 54 others, including my wife, so I can safely say the beach is still there. It is the nature of beaches that they come and go
