  A few years ago on a campsite in Spain the weather was unusually cold for the winter season and some people used more electricity than what they should such as leaving a fanheater on in the awning while they went out.
This nearly sent the campsite bankrupt so the following year after investment in the electricity supply to the pitches each was allowed a certain amount of units and then had to pay extra for anymore used. Mrs Goldi and I had plenty of electricity without paying for any more and I considered this fair and reasonable.

The surrounding countryside looks glorious but it might be just me, or the weather at this time, or the understandable lack of units on the site but I am not overwhelmed by the look of the site itself.

Sadly I agree with Brigitte that the gallery does not inspire us to want to go there. Obviously a grey forboding sky does not help, and I guess if the place has not opened yet they can't show a nicely laid out, lively looking place. However, perhaps showing the shower block areas, any recreation areas, the eatery/shop (if any) would all help to make it look more appealing. Do like the development pictures though as they put a personal side to it.

We'll be going to Pembroke soon so will shake off the impression of the gallery and will try and stop over here for a couple of nights (weather permitting naturism that is!), but it's great that there's hardstanding as it does rain a lot in Wales! Hopefully the electricity charge is sensible.

We might give this place a go one day as we are just about to take up camping with our camper van and like the thought of just being with nature like here.

Just wondered if anyone on here has stayed at the relatively new naturist site in Carmarthenshire, Dolcoed? The website is a bit bland, so we're wondering what the site is really like, so if anyone can give any pointers that would be great.
We're thinking of going there for a few days in August (not sure if it'll be busy or not) as we love that part of Wales.
Obviously the alternative is Tything Barn (think the owners of Dolcoed ran Tything but might be wrong) but that looks a bit down in the doldrums when you look at its website.
Any info greatly appreciated, thanks.

We stayed at Dolcoed for a few days camping last year and intend to return again this year. It does have room for caravans too.

It has very new, toilet, shower and kitchen facilities and a large barn for when the weather is bad. It may have even more facilities this year, as the owner was keen to keep adding to the site.

The owners are very friendly and helpful.

Well worth a visit.

It's a bit too far away for us to get to easily, But does look like the kind of place we'd enjoy.
There doesn't seem to be many camping places for naturists in the UK apart from clubs which are not really are cup of tea.

Jo and Mike managed Tything Barn with integrity, professionalism and (thwarted) foresight. They then took the scary but wise decision to open Dolcoed. Several couples took the decision to embrace the practicality and vision of Dolcoed with them. The website does a great job in describing where Dolcoed fits into ‘real Wales’ - it’s only the start though, you really need to visit. You’ll find a site which is exceptionally sheltered, beautifully kept and with facilities which are literally of hotel standard. Jo and Mike run Dolcoed still very much with integrity, professionalism and foresight which is now coming to fruition - well worth a visit!

Thanks for the reply, hopefully we'll get there in August so long as it's not too full being the high season. We can't book yet as we're not sure which week we'll be free to go as yet.

Stayed at Dolcoed last week, and at Tything Barn for that matter.

Dolcoed was as descrived, a very peaceful location, facilities still looking very new and always clean. It's a relatively small, intimate site, with a very pleasant atmosphere, everyone friendly but not too much so. We made good use of the games room, which is a bit of a mancave really, still my partner enjoyed knocking a table tennis ball around and playing darts. There's plenty to read as well. Give it about six weeks and the heated outdoor pool will hopefully be ready for use, making a great site, well greater(!). Maybe for some sound of the sheep take a bit of getting used to on the first night, something you soon get used to, otherwise it's extremely quiet. We're not the sort to stay on site all day long, and we particularly enjoy the coast, which is about 25 minutes away if you head in the New Quay direction. Decent price for a tent too. Usually we holiday somewhere new every year, this might have to change.

We also had a few days at Tything Barn, which is different from how we remembered it from staying 10 or so years ago. While I wouldn't say don't go, Dolcoed will be our preference. Tything Barn kept their loos and showers clean, it's just they seem quite old now and in need of a bit of refreshing, and what we remembered as a games room is now gone, part of private accomodation. On the positive it's still a wonderful setting, the saltmarsh at high tide is very scenic, and the grounds provide a nice 20 minute stroll on the morning without repeating yourself. The other benefit of the location is proximity to the south Pembrokeshire beaches. Did feel it a bit expensive for non-hook-up camping, they charge the same rate whether caravan, tent or whatever, which is a bit of an usual way of running a site. Of course quite a bit busier, a bigger place, more people, again everyone friendly enough just not as cosy as at Dolcoed.

The staff were ok at both places, but Mike at Dolcoed more hands on and welcoming, nothing was a trouble.

Had another fantastic stay at Dolcoed last week, as much as we enjoyed it last year it's been all the more enhanced now that the swimming pool is open. It's an outdoor pool maybe 10-12m, just enough to properly swim in, and heated to 27C which made it very nice to been in. When the sun is out it's amazing, but we were still having our morning dips when it was windy, rainy and 15C.

Last year we had a heatwave, this time the weather went the other way, fairly cool, windy and lots of rain. We made a lot of use of the excellently provisioned games room. The toilets were spotless like last time, the shower warm and clean, you couldn't ask for more from any campsite, and this one you can enjoy it all without your clothes.

The majority of people staying were the same as last time, which made it a very friendly time indeed. One of the patrons put on marvellous quiz night, and the annual go kart fundraiser took place over the weekend. Not that participation is expected, it was completely fine to instead enjoy a bit of peace and quiet on your own. Nothing is forced at Dolcoed. 

It was a bit quiet, perhaps a combination of the weather and the wider way of the world of the moment, so I really must encourage any camper, caravanner or anyone who'd like to take a look at their static caravan or glamping lodge, to give this place a go and support a genuine gem of a naturist location.

Speaking of location, it was handy for that run to the coast to our favourite beach - the one which we're doing our bit to generate some sort of naturist tradition use, and other attractions are handy to get to. 

So worth the trip wherever you'd be travelling from.
