The closest to Malaga I'd recommend would probably be Benal Natura, on the western side of Benalmadena.

It's  an attractive cove and listed in this link:

Cabopino is a bit further west along the coast and the open beach is lovely (some dodgy activity reported in the dunes behind the beach).

There's another beach on the outskirts of Malaga, near the airport which is recommended in the above list, but I haven't been. It's described as family-friendly on Andalucia.com, but I'd heard it was fairly male-oriented?

My vote would also be for Benal Natura in Benalmadena. On Saturdays and Sundays there are lots of Spanish families with small children in attendance however one does have to be careful on entering the sea as it is very rocky in places.

These recommendations (and cautions) are great. My wife and I are going to Malaga for three weeks in late July/early August for some R&R and are looking for some naturist/nude beach and day resort options (we already have a flat that we are staying in).

Any other ideas for places within a one hour (approx.) radius of Malaga?

We are heading out to Malaga from 14-19 September. I'm interested in trying out one of the nude beaches as a potential first time public nude experience. However, my partner is not into nudism at all, but is prepared to give it a go. Any suggestions on a relatively quiet beach around that area and time so that we both don't feel too overwhelmed for our first public nude experience? Suggestions on a postcard please... 😉

We went to Benal Natura in Benalmadena every day when we were there at the start of the year. It is great as there are people of all ages and nationalities there, it is secluded so no dodgy onlookers. Everyone was friendly and nice and there is a bar and toilets.

A drive out from Malaga if you have a hire car would be to  Playa de Cantarrijan which is a delightful secluded beach beyond Nerja on the old coast road, (leave the motorway after the Capistrano tunnel and take the road away from Nerja through Maro). After about 5 spectacular miles the road down to the beach will be found, drive down the hill park behind the restaurants and enjoy a great day.

This is an old thread but thought I'd share s it was best match in a search!

We were in Spain for 2 weeks and managed 3 trips to Playa de Gudalmar nude beach. This is a nice (mostly) sandy beach about 3 miles by road South West of Malaga airport in Spain.

The beach has lots of parking near to it and is either free or 1Euro per day. It has lifeguards on duty at peak times and is very popular with the locals. The nude beach is a narrower strip of beach than the rest of it so at high tide can be as narrow as 8 or 9 meters. There are several sets of open showers at the back of the beach and a decking style path at the back.

The beach is flanked by textiles each side but the vibe is mellow and I have seen families using the East end of the beach. The farthest West end is mostly where the gay men setup but you can setup anywhere and not feel unwelcome. Although most go nude you do get a few non nudes sit among us but they didn't cause any grief. Lots of textiles pass along the beach during the day but most use the path at the back.

There is a beach bar about 3 mins walk (but you have to dress) and a kiosk selling cold drinks, ice creams, crisps etc about a 7 mins walk away; both are reasonably priced. There are also toilets which are 5 mins away and kept clean by dedicated staff.

Clean and excellent access to facilities Friendly atmosphere Clean water

Cons
There is a line of shingle about 1.5m deep along much of the beach that can be sore under foot but easily avoided or 'jumped'. Got very busy on the Saturday. Lots of textiles passing through.

I would echo a strong recommendation for Benalnatura. Although when you drive there it seems quite built up, when you walk down to the beach it is a very pleasant secluded beach. The atmosphere is very nice, perhaps because it is managed by volunteers.

Naturism is obligatory and this makes it a very good place to try naturism for the first time as it avoids the 'will I / won't I' dilemma and you will not feel that a load of textiles are gawking at you.

Check out Costa Natura at Estepona. The resort backs on to a naturist beach, which is not the best in Spain, but OK. However, the resort itself is excellent, and I believe they accept day visitors. We spent two great weeks there in June.

Have tried both Costa Natura and Benalnatura beach and can highly recommend both, and well recommended especially for families. If going to Costa Natura have a look at flights in and out of Gibraltar, sometimes a better way to and from.

We were at Benalnatura last month and this was the first time we had used it in season (normally we are there around New Year). Hence, although it was a lot busier, still everyone was naked and the bar was open.

Interestingly as we were sat around the bar having a beer before leaving there was one chap who was sat there having a drink but had put his shorts on. One of the bar staff approached him and told him that this was not allowed and he should be naked. He immediately complied but I think it reinforces the point that if you go there everyone else will be naked (apart from the bar staff themselves that is).
