We’re just considering booking for Costa Calma in February. We’re looking at the hotel H10 Tindaya which according to the description has direct access to Sotavento beach. I’ve been to Corralejo before, but never to the south of the island.
My wife is not a naturist and won’t accompany me to the naturist end of the beach, but it sounds like it’s close by enough that I’ll be able to get a little me time and spend it on the beach.
Anyone know how busy it’s likely to be in February?
I've been in September to South Esmerelda Beach and it wasn't overly busy.
I'd estimate about 70 - 30 per cent in favour of clothes free beach goers.
The sea was a bit rough.
My avatar depicts me fishing on the beach in the middle of the afternoon.
It's not good for fishing as the tides return your bait to your feet in seconds after casting.
BTW it didn't have a 'naturist end'. Everyone mixed happily. 🙂
We have often driven from Morro Jable to playa Esmeralda / Canada del Rio, it is a lovely beach, so we tried the H10 esmarelda hotel one year, we cut our stay there short and moved to infiniti.
It is a nice well kept hotel although our room was more like a bunker, but the main problem is that Costa calma seems to have been built around the all inclusive hotels so if you are happy to stay in the hotel in the evening it's fine, but if you want to visit local bars and restaurants you are very limited.
As someone mentioned it is mixed on the beach but seems to be far more naturist on the south end of the beach (past esmaralda)
Please don't let me put you off, that is not my intention, but I think it's better to be informed.
Enjoy your holiday
Thanks. Good to know about the locality. We do like to go out and find bars and restaurants so that’s a point against it as part of the decision process. However the beach sounds ideal to me so that’s a point in its favour. We’ll look again and see if we can find somewhere with everything. Thanks
The beach at Morro del jable is fantastic, supposedly naturist to the left of the lighthouse and textile to the right but it is very mixed, if you got to the left of the lighthouse around the rocky outcrop you can walk naked for around 20km to Costa calma, there are good beaches all around the island but I don't think the one 's in Caletta de fuster, Puerto del rosario, Costa caletta are naturist friendly. We went to Morro del Jable for four years running g and loved it, then we found Infiniti in Corralejo and love it there, an easy drive a cross to El Cotillo and the nightlife in Coralejo beats all the other, something for everyone.
Great, thanks for the info. We have booked up, so looking forward that.
We did end up going to the H10 Tindaya in February and it was good enough that we’ve booked up again for October. From
My perspective it was perfect, the beach right in front of the hotel is naturist, when I was there everyone to the north end before the rocky outcrop was clothed, with the exception of the occasional naturist walking the shoreline as far as the rocks. Practically everyone at the south end was nude, with a few exceptions.
It’s ideal for me because my family are not naturist, so if I want to spend some time nude on the beach I need to do it on my own. Since I don’t want to spend too much time apart from my family it means I don’t end up spending more time getting to and from the beach than I do nude on it. When we’ve gone to Maspalomas in the past it can be 25 - 30 minute walk each way limiting the amount of time I want to spend actually on the beach.
We are off to Costa calma next week and are looking to spend
plenty time on playa Esmeralda beach.
