I have followed quite a few threads over the summer and into autumn by fellow NC members who are regular naked walkers in places such as the New Forest, Sherwood Forest and the countryside generally. It seems that encounters with textiles are very common....dog walkers, runners, hikers, cyclists etc. It appears that in most cases the general public regards these encounters with very little fuss and more often than not, a polite exchange ensues. I have done a number of online searches to see if any outraged citizens have aired their concerns over so much public nudity. The results...no. No forum comments about Sherwood Forest nudists or Sheffield countryside naked ramblers. Lots of us also seem to be able to spend time in our gardens as nature intended without neighbours wailing for the police.  I am pleasantly surprised and can't help but wonder if we are gaining ground in normalising public nudity.

Hi I think we have a long way to go still for it to be regarded as normal but the more we can get out and about the more accepted it will become. I have had a few spur of the moment walks though rare when I have been out in the car and spotted an appropriate area to walk naked it's a shame the weather is not on our side in the North East of england as there are less opportunities. It would be nice if others were able to share the experience and I'm thinking of setting up a Naked Ramblers Group though I fear not many will be interested...

I have been searching the internet for years to see if anyone has posted about me walking naked. I have been photographed many times and expected to find them on line. So far I have never found anything, except the odd blog that I have written. I regularly search the local rags and local internet groups as well.

Most weekdays I walk my local hills naked before i go to work. Last week I spent every weekday morning walking for 3 to 4 hours. I experienced just about every weather condition from wind, rain, mist, cold, sun and warmth. Same walk, different experiences. A lot of people know i walk naked, a few have seen me from a distance and I bump into a professional dog walker once or twice a week. I am naked, he is wrapped up. One of us misjudged the weather.

I'm trying to make it the new normal for me at least! I would say almost everytime it's confidence building. Partly it is thanks to the users here for the advice, particularly the cover/not-cover decision when others approach. A friendly, confident non-cover is a winning formula for me, much better than the apologetic, guilty hiding away. If normal is the buzzword, then acting normal while nude is key.

Unfortunately, I'm a conscientious objector to Facebook, otherwise those groups would look rather handy.

I’m with you on that, TTH, both the non-covering up and Facebook!

As far as public acceptance is concerned, I think it’s always been better than we’ve all We’d ourselves to believe - it’s mai lay in town there’s been any sort of issue.

Davey B in his post on the 17th November mentioned that he was considering setting up a Naked Ramblers Group, presumably in NE England.

As you may be aware Naturist Ramblers (Nat Ram) is a very active naturist walking group in southern England, and we would be pleased to advise anybody who was thinking of setting up a similar group elsewhere in UK.

In his post, Davey B ‘fears that not many would be interested’.  I suspect that he may well be wrong as our Nat Ram membership currently stands at about 160, which is an increase of about 33% compared with last year.  In 2018 we did some 18 walks and the average attendance was 29!

Nat Ram is quite happy to share our approach, methodology, guidelines etc.  Obviously we cannot help with actual walk routes, but in these days of a much more relaxed approach to ‘Nudity in Public’, finding suitable routes is now much easier than before.

I'd be very interested in a Midlands group if one could be organised.

If you're a couple in the Midlands and are under 50...say hi.

Since moving to Yorkshire last year, I've been coordinating a mailing group of walkers and we did a number of walks last year. Leeds, Doncaster, York area. Interested to hear from anyone wanting to join us. Everyone we have encountered, although surprised, have been friendly and amicable, with the exception of one man who grumbled a bit. Probably due to the fact his wife was enjoying talking to us! One woman responded to me that she hadn't even noticed I was naked. Did my ego the world of good - not!

Life’s too short. Do it today!

As a couple who consider the main reason for naturism (in our case anyway) is the acquisition of an all over suntan (yes there are other reasons, we know) the notion of donning a backpack, walking trainers or boots and setting off at a reasonable lick over interesting terrain in the nude (barring said boots) seems rather pointless!!
Obviously this is a case of “to each his own” and we would never deny anyone the right to roam dressed or otherwise, but forgive us if we look upon those of you who ramble naked with mild puzzlement and amusement!!

It does seem pointless, walking perhaps a circular route and ending up were you started.

For me I've always enjoyed walking, clothed or naked. The sense if freedom, seeing glorious countryside (I saw a display of snowdrops last Friday they were marvellous) I love the exercise, and just getting away from the stress of live and enjoying solitude.

If I can do all this and be naked that is a  extra bonus, the icing on the cake, and I get an all over tan too.

It`s been three years since I joined NC , a relative newcomer to naturism. I had never encountered the idea of naked rambling , to begin with I was unsure about it.
Last year during a really hot spell I walked for about 3 hours along the South Dorset Ridge-way, a footpath that is secluded and yet overlooking Weymouth. I had been building up my confidence by going naked more often around the house.
Personally I get bored sunbathing for any great length of time, I prefer to be active.
Becoming a member of this community has also freed up my thinking about naturism and I,ve become surprised at how relaxing it can be. More recently I've come to realise that going naked is a personal freedom , looking upon it in this way has become really liberating. I do not wish to cause offence to anyone .
As I walked along the Ridge-way it felt wonderfully empowering to simply be naked .

Being naked is one of the simple joys of life.
