I was there on 13 Aug 18, and saw a drilling rig near to the pathway where you enter the beach on the owners ground.
It looks like it may be the start of redevelopment exploration works.

Was down there last week. Still well used as a naturist beach.

There is a lot of on shore oil in that region.
