I’ve recently discovered a great area of forest near to my home in north Staffordshire that I love to have a stroll around in the evenings. There’s something about forest paths and woodland walks that I just love - hearing the wind in the trees and the sheer peacefulness is a great remedy to a hard day at work!

I’ve been walking (clothed)  around this particular forest for a month or so now, and it’s very rare to meet anyone. Most times I don’t see a soul, maybe the very occasional dog walker. It’s been crossing my mind to attempt a nude walk but I’ve never been brave enough before on public paths. The thought of meeting someone and them thinking I’m a flasher or weirdo pervert has always been in the back of my mind.

In the week I went up to the forest after work and had a little trial run of nudity - I found a really off-the-beaten-track area and took off my shorts and t-shirt and had a five minute stroll, before getting too scared about meeting someone and covering up!

Then this morning I just threw caution to the wind - I got to the woods at 5am and it was completely deserted. I walked in to the tree line, took off my shorts and shirt, popped them in my bag and went for it. I kept telling myself it was so early the chances of meeting anyone was minimal and after ten minutes or so I relaxed completely. The morning sun shining through the trees felt so good on my bare skin, I felt so liberated.

Half way around, out of nowhere, came a lone lady on a mountain bike. She did do a double-take, but just shouted “morning” and whizzed past me with a smile. No accusations of being a weirdo flasher, just seemed to accept that I was a nude rambler and carried on with her day! It gave me the confidence to carry on!

In the end I walked four miles nude, and when I got back to the tree line, I was so emboldened I climbed over the style and walked back down the road to my car naked, and then drove home naked. It felt so amazing!

Sorry to bore everyone, but I feel so proud to have finally shed my inhibitions and had a proper naked ramble!

That sounds parr for the course. In that kind of location and particularly that time of day, a negative reaction is unlikely. Bikes can sneak up on you very rapidly!

I Really enjoyed hearing about this achievement!

I have recently been Skinny Dipping for the real first time, and know that feeling of success however how small in comparison to veteran nudists on here.

Well done to you!!  8)

No you’re not boring, I’m pleased for you.

You’ll grow with confidence the more times you go for your naked rambles. Enjoy.

Well Staffsbloke, I was not remotely bored by your post. I felt excited for you as it helped me relive my first experiences. Well done and good for you. The more people that walk naked the better and the more generally acceptable it will become.

Like you my recent first naked walk last year was an empowering experience, it's always good to read of other's. I have not done many but I really enjoyed it, feels so liberating.
Wish I had done one years ago rather than waiting for my retirement!
Thanks for sharing your experience.

Being naked is one of the simple joys of life.

Thanks for all of your encouraging comments! I’ve really got the bug now for being brave and getting my kit off in the countryside. In the week I had a day off from work and travelled up to Macclesfield Forest for a day of hiking. It was a good sign when I got to the car park at 7am that there were no other cars in sight. The morning sun was quite warm so I just threw caution to the wind, popped my shorts in my bag and headed off into the woods. Had a lovely nude ramble through the forest and up on to the moors to the top of Shuttlingsloe hill. Standing naked at the top of the hill, being able to see for miles across the Cheshire plain, was one of the most liberating experiences of my life!

I think the next step for me is to have a naked ramble with a friend or group, rather than just on my own. Would be nice to have a kindred spirit to chat to while walking!

I'm impressed that you've managed to go it alone in the first place, well done. Our group may be a bit too far north for you but I organise walks in the "mid-Yorks" area if you are ever interested - usually mid week though. Going to Rishworth Moor on the 24th. Message me if interested.
Otherwise the FB group Naturist Ramblers might find you a kindred spirit. You'll appreciate that you're now "hooked", so good luck for future walks. By the way, I always carry a copy of the police guidelines "just in case"!

Life’s too short. Do it today!

Hi Peter, thank you for the nice comments, I do appreciate it and it also gives me a lot of confidence! Would love to walk with a group at some point, even though you’re a bit far away for me, I’ll definitely bear it in mind, thank you!

Thanks for your kind words! Yesterday I was actually just along the North Wales costs from you in Conwy. Had a lovely nude walk along the beach between Conwy Morfa and Penmaenmawr, including a little paddle in the ice cold sea! There were a few folk on the beach but I kept to the shoreline well away from them so didn’t have any trouble. I guess a few of the truck drivers who could see over the wall on the A55 may have seen me, but who cares! A good day!

I really enjoyed reading your report about your early morning nude walk too. I'm not too far away in Derbyshire so if you'd like company sometime please just let me know. It's always good to see other local naturists either online or in real life such as at events.

Congratulations. I hope you feel proud and ready for more. I have had similar experiences and now I am hooked on nude hiking. I actually find walking naked in wide open spaces is better as it is easier to see textiles coming from a distance, giving time to cover up if you wish. I too have been surprised by cyclists but they invariably rush by if you step aside. I also find many walkers are intrigued and like to talk. Some will tell you not to bother covering up but is best to make the gesture at least. The important thing is to be confident and stay on your chosen path. Running off and hiding is what arouses suspicion. Walking with a group is even more rewarding and increases your credibility as there is safety in numbers. Most groups walkers find there is no need to cover up.
Best wishes for your continuing nudist experience.
Brian
