Not sure what idiocy took us holidaying under canvas in Yorkshire in January!
There was snow on the tent the first morning there.
On one excursion, we stopped at Hardraw Force near Hawes. The waterfall is accessed via a riverside path from the back of a pub. The falls were in full flow and there was not a soul in sight. I have no idea what came over us - it may have been a dare - but we decided to strip off and jump in.
We swam about until we could no longer feel our limbs (probably 3-4 minutes maximum) and clambered out, steaming in the freezing air.
Thankfully the pub served us with hot coffees rather than beers.
Not sure if I would recommend this in January, but at other times - sure thing!
The falls were later used in "Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves" where Maid Marian spys Robin bathing at the base of the falls.
We were there first!
