To get to Cueva Paloma, go towards the ocean from Lili's or Jardin Tropical and follow the road round to the left. In a little while, on the right is the entrance to Oböna Type 5 apartments, the main Oböna reception and Cueva Paloma restaurant

Fun, we spoke to people this morning who’ve been to Cueva and told us all about it. Strange that it’s not mentioned in the hotel literature.
We decided to eat there tonight, and I took a walk to find out what was on the menu..... it’s closed on wednesdays.... ok we will give it a go tomorrow.
Thanks for the heads up.
So, how was it at Cueva Paloma?
Was the delightful German girl, Melanie waiting at table, which she does sometimes, in between working for Oböna?
If you see her, please say that Chris sends his regards and he and Penny will be out again 21 April.

Steve, The Duck pond now has a layer of grit on the bottom, don’t know if it was put there deliberate or just natural ocean deposit. It’s not slippy anymore but much eaasier to walk in and out of than the Tub.
Thanks for the info StevieLorna. I'll be happier to use the pond next time we go then. A bit more sunbathing space at the pond than at the tub too.
Chris, Cueva was lovely, by far the best of the three restaurants. The menu has a lot of seafood on it, which we don’t eat but there were enough other options.
It was a Spanish waiter who served us. Never seen the German girl there.
I said that we were aware of only two restaurants, we counted the tropical and recently opened Lili’s (that used to be Reinners pub) and totally missed Cueva. I wish we had tried that one first, we would have eaten out there more.
Having just returned we were told by residents in the village that the Restaurant La Tunera Charco del Palo (as you go in the village on the left hand side) will be definitely opening very soon April/May 2019.
Apparently its just been totally refurbished by two English guys employing local staff/professional chef so will explore on next visit hopefully next year.
In our opinion Liliys was NOTHING special after all its only a pub with poor basic food as a after thought.Agree with previous post Cueva Paloma was best on offer so far.
Perhaps if anyone is visiting in the coming months let us all know what La Tunera is like when its open for next time visit.
The Social Catina in Mala was also good (Sunday spit roast Chicken) mush better that Liliys but draw back need to use Car or walk.
'Perhaps if anyone is visiting in the coming months let us all know what La Tunera is like when its open for next time visit.'
We are in Charco for 3 weeks in May and will definitely visit La Tunera if it is open and report back.
Have been in Carco for two weeks. Some renovation work is going on at La Tunera but not open for business yet and I have been unable to talk to anyone knowledgeable to get a date. Lilly's Bar is also closed for a holiday plus more renovation work - opens again sometime in June!
We really enjoyed our first stay in Charco so we have just re-booked for the last two weeks in September.
If no one else posts, we will update everyone on the facilities when we are there.
Can’t wait.
I just wanted to resurrect this thread about Charco del Palo to say a big thanks to StevieLorna and others who have provided lots of commentary and useful info about the village. I've taken advice directly out of this thread to book a week at the Las Piteras seafront apartments for the end of Feb 2020. Looking forward to a first visit there, it having been on my wishlist for about 10 years.

We will be there the first two weeks in March, also seafront. Might be your room. Leave beer in the fridge 😀
An update on Charco.
Enjoying our third trip to Charco and it’s still the same quaint old town.
met some friends from last year, if you holiday at the same time of year it often happens.
The only changes of note are that Cueva Paloma has changed hands but only the menu is different. It’s now almost exclusively seafood. Only a couple of options if you don’t like fish.
The Tunera is still closed and no visible work has been done to it despite rumours it was to reopen.
The shop now stocks some some frozen meats, I’ve just made a chicken curry from breasts purchased there. Delicious.
We are back in June and November - are any others planning on being there then? Might any fancy sharing our superb 2-bedroomed accommodation and car rental with us, if not already booked. If so please PM us for more details. We'd obviously want to meet first. It's good that Lanzarote is one of the few holiday destinations still free of COVID-19.

Chris, there are three Italian lads from Milan sharing one of those rooms above us right now.
no sign of a sniffle yet.
