My wife and I (and our extended family) have booked a staycation in North Devon). I googled the nearest naturist beach and it is only 24 miles away but will take us 50 minutes to reach it (I assume due to coastal roads and traffic).
Now before my wife and I opt to disappear for the day I would appreciate if anyone who’s been there could give me an opinion on the quality of the beach.
We’ve been spoilt in that we usually go to Studlands and my wife hates pebbly beaches but from photos it looks like sand with some stones as well.
If you’ve been in September are the temperature and winds OK or do you need a wind breaker.
Thanks in advance
Sillery sands is shut and has been for several years following a cliff collapse that took out the footpath.
Thanks for the update. Real shame. I assume it’s effected all the naturist that use to go there.
@glenncoe Your alternatives are Wild Pear at Combe Martin, which is a bit of an interesting climb, or Saunton Sands, if you like Studland then you'd be delighted with this one. All depends upon where you are staying as to which is best option.
Thanks for this additional info. Unfortunately it’s a little too West for us from where we are staying.
It's a serious hike cross-country between North Devon and Studland. The roads don't go in straight lines and at best you only get minor 'A' roads (the three figure type). Having lived in the region I'd say a 2-3 hour drive one way.
Lol, we’ll be staying just outside of Minehead for our holiday next week, but even so we won’t have the free time to go that far across and still regroup with the family later in the day.
