In September 2017 I did my first North East Skinny Dip at Druridge Bay.  I gotta admit I was bricking it, I had only ever gotten naked in front of my husband.  I remember when we first met in 2009 I would nip to the bathroom to get undressed then come back into bedroom in my PJs.

Don't get me wrong there is nothing wrong with my body on the outside but in the inside, I have health issues, an invisible illness called Endometriosis which leaves me feeling anxious and depressed at times with how it makes me feel and the things it's doing to my body on the inside, along with the scars it's left on the outside.

The morning of the dip back in 2017, I could see people getting undressed, ready for the big event.  At that point I noticed people of all walks of life, different stages of their life, young and old, tall and small, slim and chubby.....I also noticed that no one batted an eyelid, everyone was treated equally and no one paid attention to what others looked like.  It was a right eye opener, and left me feeling a little more confident in my own skin, whereas the husband doesn't care, just whips it off proud as the day he was born.  However I always believe it's a little harder for women.  After the dip a nice gentleman contacted me to ask if I would be interested in a naturist swim and I said I would think about it and yes I will admit I chickened out (one I don't drive, so the husband would have to take me and two need to find a babysitter - 3 kids).

September 2018 and I did the skinny dip for a second time, only this time I was a hell of a lot more prepared and more excited than the previous year, as I knew what to expect.  However this year I offered my services to volunteer to help organise the event, along with the husband.  The night before the event we met a lot of lovely people (volunteers and people that were coming to do the dip!), and we got talking to a few people, one of which, when I got back home realised it was the lovely gentleman who messaged me about the nude swim the year before!).

We did the dip the day after and it was amazing to see well over 600 dippers there compared to the year before.  It was such a better experience than the year before, probably because we got to talk to others and feel more at home.  It was after the dip that the gentleman who was speaking about the nude swim, talked more about it, that and other naturist things (up until that point, I wasn't sure about naturist things).

A week later myself and my husband went along with this lovely gentleman and took part in our first nude swim (Sat 6th Oct 2018), so fairly recent.  Just like the first dip in 2017, I was bricking it, mainly because I knew I would be in very close contact with other naked bodies, stupid when I look back now, but was worried about how I would cope, my anxiety gets the better of me at times and was worried about stripping off infront of strangers (yes I had done it at the NESD but this to me felt different, not sure how, but it just did!)
But once I entered the pool area, no one batted an eyelid, we also weren't the newbie couple (if that is even a thing!), another couple experienced their first time too.  Along with my husband, the lovely gentleman who introduced us to the swim and this couple, we also met the lovely Davey (who's a member here https://www.naturist-corner.net/community/index.php?action=profile;u=1778 ) who really made us feel at home, it was like I'd known these people all my life, I didn't feel uncomfortable, even with my flabby stomach and scars (from the laparoscopy surgery in 2015).  It was just a lovely experience.  Davey B is also the lovely gentleman who recommended NC to me.

Will I go back again? Hell yeah, looking forward to the next nude swim, next month!

Yes I am a mother to three children, ages 7, 9 and 10... but it's about time I started feeling like Nikki and not Mam.  It's about time I started living a little and experiencing some new things and meeting people who are more on my level, with or without clothes on.#
I'm not one to go drinking down the pub till I can't walk home in a straight line, as I said in my bio, I'm more reserved than that, well not too reserved, after all walked in naked into a pool with several naked souls and didn't give two hoots!

Here's to more nudity, nude friends and feeling alive

An excellent post from all angles laid bare with personal issues to overcome. I am glad you have had such a positive experience and hope this continues for you and there is no reason why it won't. Everyone is very friendly on here like I said and you will get out of it what your time allows you to put in, lots of advice and guidance here from all. Look forward to seeing you and Al again soon.

Well done. Now you're hooked and I expect, like me, you wish you'd done it sooner. Join the ranks of of those who think the non-naturist world is really missing out.

I wish the above could be disseminated to a wider female audience. The psychological benefits of naturism for women are enormous but little known or understood.

I agree too but not just because NikkiJayne is a woman, she has provided us with a well-written and interesting tale that is of reassurance to any prospective naturist.

Thanks again Davey!

It's just a relief you know, when you have anxieties of new places is hard enough for me, let alone naked!

An excellent account NikkiJayne and welcome aboard. Well done Davey for what has obviously been a very sensitive and supporting introduction.

@elise I agree and like someone stated not just because of her being a woman but because it’s a great inspiration I’m new to this and very nervous ( no confidence in my body ) but I bit the bullet so to speak and payed for a day pass to a local naturist camp and went naked but kept my towel strategically placed lol but love these stories because like yourself you find that others are also going through the same Anxieties I’m hoping I can do it again at some point but this time not have a strategic towel placement 👍🏼
